Now that DEI is dead, we can get back to hiring unqualified white guys (i.e. meritocracy). Sure he has no experience or training, but he did once kill a guy and tended some bar. The company memo literally said "we will teach him the business!" Andreessen Horowitz just hired Daniel Penny, the ex-Marine who was acquitted after choking a man to death on a New York City subway
Pretty funny. They are going to teach him about investing. All those unqualified DEI people with worthless finance degrees get to the army, choke someone, and get a degree in something completely different than what you will be doing.
That's not exactly accurate. You need to choke certain type of people to death. Cant just be anyone. But if you kill the right person you are on your way to the top.
It’s still early. I’m sure Trump will come up with a made up cabinet position for Kyle to head up here soon enough.
back? When did we have merit based hiring? The absence of DEI does NOT equal merit based. You would need to believe that people do NOT pursue self interests, but rather are natural collectivists that only care about the greater good to have merit based hiring in most cases. p.s. sales people would not need to be paid commissions in such a world either. p.s.s. you would also need complete honesty, perfect info & complete info.
I realize that, but it seems A LOT of people believe in the binary merit/DEI as if all that is need for merit based is the absence of DEI.
A lot? I don't think they (the opponents of DEI) believe that at all, they know they cant say what they really want (hiring a white guy you feel sorry for because you like his politics or you were frat bros). DEI is the 'meritocratic' policy if anything, it is set up to make sure other people get a chance if the boss likes to hire murderous Marines who have no qualifications. They want to pretend it helps the unqualified, when it probably actually helps the qualified against the biases of the people doing the hiring.
My favorite DEI is "veterans preference" ... was told point blank about 15 years ago when I looked into getting a government job that if anyone with military service applies for the job, they'd automatically get it ...
KJP was 100 times more qualified than Karoline Leavitt to be press secretary, but hey, at least Leavitt is white, am I right?
Yeah, but the anti-DEI people cant get past the blacks and women having jobs though so its all got to go
you are probably right. let me clarify, a lot of people believe that merit based hiring is a choice that could be done if a firm or gov wanted a merit based sys. I am saying in most cases it is infeasible.
I don't think people actually want a truly meritocratic society (it would kind of suck for almost everyone that wasn't a Lebron James of their field even if it was possible), they just say that, mostly in defense of not altering their preferred status quo.
regardless of what they want, they don't understand that in many cases, it is not feasible. I don't really understand the LJ thing. the NBA, like most jobs is not a tourny with only the winner getting paid.
