I did as well. I still think Neal crossed the goal line before the ball came loose. They gave it to Auburn as a touchback and Bo Jackson went 80 yards a couple plays later. We got revenge the next year with Bo Jackson taking himself out of the game.

Would be awesome to humble them. They are so cocky. Broome and CBM are such whiners and trash talkers. Send a message!

I'll leave than one alone on Golden(i like him) Pearl was a gamble hire, it seems to have worked out ok. I never paid much attention to him pre AU.. but a lot better X & O coach than I thought. My only goal for bball every year is to stay relevant until softball/baseball starts. He usually accomplishes that.

I knew he was slime from his time as an assistant coach at Iowa.

You really don't know about this? He lost out to Illinois in the recruitment of Deon Thomas and did some shady stuff including calling Thomas repeatedly in the middle of the night and tape recording the conversations. Thomas eventually said "They paid me" hoping to get a good night's sleep. Pearl then gave the tape to the NCAA.

    Total dirt bag.

They didn't pay him and Illinois was cleared of everything in the recruitment of Thomas. They were put on probation because two players got loans co-signed by their parents to buy Blazers.

Duke players got $10K loans to buy stuff from Tiffany without a blink from the NCAA.

Vaguely, i was 14(40 years ago) lol Not a great look for sure. I thought sure you were going the bbq route..lol I was on the player end of bball recruting in late 80s, so none of that shocks me in the least.

If that still makes him slime 40 years later, I wont try and change your mind. If AU dropped bball program(which Ive suggested in past lol) have a feeling hed choose his next stop & pay check.. maybe not, getting old. So being slime not being held against him from ones that matter.

And then getting a "show cause" at UT on top of that.

Not the kind of guy I would want around.

I was at the game at Auburn where Bo took himself out of the game at half. Pat Dye was furious. Johnel caught a short pass over the middle in the second half outran the defense to the sidelines and ran down the sidelines to the goal, carried three defensive players into the endzone where most Gator fans were seating, me included. They marked it down at the two, we scored quickly. We won. Two lane roads getting in and out of the town. A one horse town!

Don't forget to mention your pro-Illinois bias. ;) If you look at the transcripts that Pearl submitted it was about the offeror, not about the recipient. That was over 30 years ago, and I think if all the information is put out there, I don't think it would be a unanimous finger point at Bruce Pearl, not to the degree that you suggest.

Any "recruiting" violations that he was a part of is a relativistic joke compared to what we have in today's environment. One thing I know is that Bruce Pearl does a good job acquiring talent, and he does a good job in his public face to the fans. Is there a better coach in the conference? Glad that Golden learned from him.

    Go GATORS!

Probably in the minority as a Gator here, but I love Bruce. He’s great for the game, a happy warrior, loves the fans and BTW he loved Billy D and he loves TG.

Would love to pull off the W though.

I kind of differ on recruiting then(80s) vs now. 'Unethical' across the board was the best way to describe it in 80s(fball also) Is that better or worse than it is now?? its legal now I guess..lol But 80s recruiting was some wild stuff.

I know the product on field was far far better then(both sports) But I put most of that on watered down rules, replay, etc.
