    I hear ya, Bill.

The best lentil soup I've ever had was from my neighbor who hunts deer and had some of the venison made into links. His wife made the soup - he just provided the meat!

    Just amazing!

On my way home from work ran into Publix and grabbed some of their Creamy Chicken Wild Rice Soup with Vegetables...a 16oz container. Mmmmmmm......so good!

I’ve had smoked venison link sausage from different processors all over Fl., Ga., Al., and S.C. IMHO not a one of them were as good as what we were privileged to have right there in Jackson County from Hickory Hollow. It was hands down the best I’ve ever eaten.

I don't know if you guys have ever read The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test by Tom Wolfe about Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters but they had a special venison chili. LOL.

That is what I am using tonight. I use Wick Fowler's spice mix and change it up with the addition of petite diced tomatoes and pinto beans as well as the tomato sauce that the Wick Fowler's recipe calls for. I just cut the water in half and it works out fine. My wife insists on the beans even though she has family roots in Texas. I am never going to win that argument. Going to serve it with spaghetti as long as I am adding beans. LOL.

Yesterday we grabbed a quick dinner at a Wendy's in Ft Pierce on our way back from watching the Panthers humiliate the Blackhawks in Sunrise. Long drive back to Gainesville.

Tonight we’re having Chicken Alfredo with broccoli tops. Texas toast garlic bread to go with.

Our temp reached 63* today, very pleasant.

Ice cold longnecks and chilled wine will accompany our supper this evening.

Life is good in Gator Nation!

We've had some decent weather too this past week, for a change....I've been catching up on my gardening work. Got a TON more to do so hoping we have at least a couple temperate months before the insufferable warm season sets in....

There is nothing in either kit that I don't have on hand on my own and might save a few pennies. But I use the kit as a habit.

It tastes like fish if you cook it. LOL.

I am making a fresh batch of split pea soup with carrots, parsnips, onion and celery as veggies with garlic and bay leaves of course. Fried up some ham from a ham steak to shred and add in at the end but used the little bone for the veggie sauté and kept it in for the cooking of the peas and veggies.

Nearly added a turnip but then I remembered that my wife is making a Cornish pasty. Need those turnips for that.

Last night I met up with guys I used to play intramural and pick-up hoops with for dinner before the Gator vs Vandy game. We had been doing this every year at Loosey's but maybe they went out of business so we went to the new location of The Swamp. I had the ahi tuna bowl which was comprised mostly of raw ahi tuna, rice, and wakame (seaweed) salad. Not up to Dragonfly standards for sushi/sashimi but actually not bad. Way better than I thought it would be at a sports bar.

And yes, @74nole, I was eating bait but really tasty bait.

I can do raw oysters with anybody— other than that, I’ll take a hard pass…
