Anyone who thinks that God somehow needed and/or chose Trump to fulfill some political goal by sparing him from a bullet that destroyed a family instead.

If it was supernatural, I would risk stating it was God allowing bad to happen at the hands of His followers for christening Trump as their king.

I have said it many times. Modern believers (myself sadly included in 2016) have followed the children of Israel in our desire to have an earthly king so much that we settled for an evil one.

Dana White for starters. It's everywhere...its the point of this thread. I know people who believe God spared Trump for some grand spiritual purpose.

What you believe is fine and should be respected by all. Similarly, you should respect what other Christians believe with respect to this matter.

One note ….. judging the quality or sincerity of another’s Christianity is pretty difficult. Remember, you don’t know what Trump believes…. or what He thinks of Trump’s thoughts and actions.

We do have "fruit" and the scriptures tell us that we can absolutely use that as a reference point.

What Christian "fruit" is he producing? (From a biblical perspective)

Trump made the claim as well as others. How does anyone know they are wrong? Further, on what basis are they wrong to think there was divine intervention that day?

    …..and trump himself.

“I felt then — and believe even more so now — that my life was saved for a reason, I was saved by God to make America great again.”

Biblically speaking, is it your responsibility to make any such assessment? And from what position of authority do you tell Christians not to believe Trump’s survival of an assassination attempt was not from God intervening?

    Matthew 7:1,2

He may do well to consider Psalm 131:1 "LORD, my heart is not haughty, Nor mine eyes lofty: Neither do I exercise myself in Great matters, or in things too high for me."

    This one came to mind

    Matthew 7:3–5

3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.

I pray @tilly considers this verse as well:

    Luke 6:37
"Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven".

I don't want @tilly to think I will ever stop praying for him.

    Ephesians 6:18
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

    1 John 5:16
16 If you see any brother or sister commit a sin that does not lead to death, you should pray and God will give them life.

I think the claims in the OP have merit. Unless if you are going to be an open-theist, a heretical theological viewpoint that says God does not know the future, then God's providence spared Trump from being slain by a bullet for a future purpose. It also caused the other man to be killed by a bullet. And that is because God has a future plan for Trump, and God is not done with Trump yet. As for the other guy...God's plan for him on this earth ended right there in that crowd. All of that is true.

Now, agreeing to that is not saying that Trump is a Christian or that God saved Trump in a salvific sense. It is also not a statement about anything Trump will accomplish in his presidency. It is not even a statement that our country will be blessed by Trump. Those things still have to play out. For all we know God's plan could be Trump dies of a heart attack tomorrow to cede the Presidency to JD Vance. It could be God's plan that Trump's presidency is a complete disaster. Neither of those scenarios are what we read between the lines of Dana White's and Trump's words, but they are still technically true if that was God's plan for Trump. We cannot presume to know what God's plan for Trump is, but I think it is clear that God is providentially involved with all of the details of Trump's life including when he dies.
