We don't agree much, but you are spot on here. Pining for the end times. Is there anything more un-Christian?

Actually Bush offered an even better deal prior to Clinton. Yeah, this is my whole life. And I've never seen a comparable movement with comparable ability to smash themselves in the balls on such a consistent basis. Just refuse to allow myself to become emotionally involved in this.

Except a LOT DUMBER! A LOT!!!

Good Lord. These MAGA idiots are cheering the idea of US troops in Gaza. GAZA!!!!

On what planet is this a good idea? And they're cheering for it and trying to rationalize it as good policy. If ever there was a moment when MAGA proved they are just mindless lemmings rushing toward the cliff, this is it.

Are you seriously suggesting anything a Republican President has done in the Middle East as "colonization" or "annexation," or is that the kind of hyperbole you would decry if done by the other side?

Trump's worldview has been distorted by the servile adoration of the MAGAns. The Middle Eastern nations won't bow to your will. They won't act against their own best interests to please you. Not even if you impotently bloviate about how fiercely you will rain tariffs down on them.

Matthew 16:27-28. Second Coming ? Every Christian agrees … until they note the time-indicators.

But this whole idea that they're cool with it because they (believe) will be raptured is just so un-Christian on face value. So, billions of your fellow humans will die and/or suffer greatly, but you're okay with that because you get a front-row seat from heaven?

I almost feel like it was a trap and that anyone who bought into Revelations is actually the bad guy and going straight to Hell. Wishing for something like Armageddon should get you an express ticket.

IDK. I have a feeling they'll bow. And that's probably in their best interests. Personally, I'd like nothing more than to give the entire region our backs.

How so? Haven't the relevant countries already declined to absorb 2 million refugees?

Of all the crazy shit Trump has said this may actually be the craziest. Take over Gaza and make it a Riviera? That's insane even for him

Revelation is the same language as the rest of the expanded. The book is buttressed on both ends by “soon to occur.” Christians may be the only people in the world for whom “soon” means 2,000 years and counting. Nothing wrong with the book. It’s the reader.

In a previous post in this thread I mentioned Trump's admiration for McKinley and the acquisition of Cuba, the Philippines, Guam and Puerto Rico following the Spanish American War under his administration. I should have also mentioned that Trump really admires Andrew Jackson so it wouldn't be surprising perhaps unintentionally that he's emulating Jackson's model of ethnically cleansing the South of Native Americans primarily Cherokees and forcing them to migrate to Oklahoma and is applying that model to the Palestinian residents of Gaza.

I have no idea what the 'plan' here is (because there isnt really one), certainly past Republicans didnt frame their nation building projects as crudely as taking possession or permanent occupations/annexations. But the idea was to create client states safe for Americans and more importantly, American businesses. I remember when Republicans were mad that our military had to leave Iraq per their own established framework, so it seems there were plenty who thought a sort of permanent occupation was on the cards. Many of them blamed that for ISIS becoming a thing. My guess is Trump is thinking "boy was that stupid, we did all that and didn't get any real estate out of it." Perhaps the calculation here is that we essentially payed to level Gaza, so why not get a 'prize' out of it?

It's been like this since Israel's creation. "The Palestinians never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity," is the phrase that often comes up. It's because they believe it's their divine right to have all the land of Israel. And they won't stop until Palestine is free from the land to the sea.

It used to be that if the Palestinians would lay down their arms and agree to a 2-state solution, Israel would agree, and there would be peace. But not with a hardliner like Netanyahu. There will be no peace with a war-monger in charge of Israel, who cares nothing about innocent Palestinians. Israel and Palestine are now opposite sides of a mirror at this point.
