Makes 1000x more sense than targeting Canada’s border.

Though I doubt it does much of anything about Fentanyl. It’s more about hitting those Chinese e-commerce giants that seem to be growing in popularity. USPS doesn’t need to be subsidizing Chinese junk.

In other words, customers who ship their packages will now have them delivered on time now that the USPS will no longer be handling them

Though you doubt something Trump did will help a situation? Nuh uh. When did you become such a cynic?

Has nothing to do with cynicism of your lord god. 98% of Fentanyl comes through Mexico. Those are just the stats.

Drugs do get shipped around through USPS by domestic criminals. Just not sure any notable amount was going the China>USPS route. Hypothetically even with 98% coming from Mexico, what % do we think is mailed from Mexico?

I think it's the precursors. As I understand it, those are actually shipped to the US, then cross the border to the fentanyl labs, then back again to the US as the finished product. I knew they were putting extra scrutiny on those, but this is a bigger step than that.

Your words are not accurate and reveal how poorly you understand the topic at hand. It may be that 98% of fentanyl seized comes from Mexico, but that only means that is where 98% of the seizures are taking place. It in no way represents that 98% of all fentanyl in the U.S. comes from Mexico. And breaking it down further, there could literally be 10 times more total fentanyl crossing the Mexican border than what they have seized. We’re not worried about the fentanyl that’s being seized. We’re after the fentanyl that’s not being seized. Don’t you think perhaps that the traffickers, knowing that 98% of the seizures occur at the Mexican border checkpoints, have sought other means to get their product into the United States?

The USPS has reversed this action, and is now accepting mail from China. That was a tense couple of hours, though.

Holy shit @ this whole discussion. Yes. I realize what is seized is only a small % But it can still be a representative sample giving us an idea as to the source. You understand international mail also goes through customs inspections and is scanned for drugs, right? Smugglers are trying to hide shipments in vehicles and disguised in large shipping containers. They aren’t going “crap - this smuggling thing isn’t working, i have an idea, let’s try USPS international priority mail select!”.

CHF at least had a point about precursors. We know the cartels get the raw materials from Chinese somehow, just not sure why they’d risk having it cross U.S. borders 2 extra times (and each time it crosses means several sets of hands).

How's the suspension of mail to the US from China going to stop the import of fentanyl precursors from China to the Mexican cartels which the source of the overwhelming majority of illicit fentanyl? Just asking. The real purpose of the mail suspension is probably to close a loophole which allows individuals buying products directly from China to avoid the Trump tariff.

    Lol.

Honestly I was sort of ok with this ban, or at least didn’t knee-jerk it as batshit crazy like most of Trumps other proposals. Moreso just because all this Chinese e-commerce is cheap junk or counterfeit, and even where it’s “legit” it’s grey market goods. Ultimately all destined for landfills. I assume someone reminded Trump you can’t collect tariffs if you stop the shipments.

the mix of amateur hour antics like this combined with the precision strikes to take control of key positions would lead one to believe that there are at least two groups at play in the WH. One that has a plan and is executing it and one that is making noise to distract from the damage being done elsewhere under cloak. Who knows what programs muskrat and the minions have installed on our systems at this point.

The two groups at play--Trump, the loose cannon that blurts out every random thought, then EO's it into chaotic being; and Musk, focused, eye-on-the-prize discipline enacting an unknown agenda.

If you met my wife, you'd never believe this to be true, but she ships shitloads of weed products to her sister in the "free" state of Florida. I have made it clear that I don't approve.

When at UF, 1 of my friends was working in Yosemite for the summer & I mailed him a 1/4 lb of weed. Seems backwards for the times to be shipping from Fla -> Cali. Damn it feels good to be a gangsta.
