Very impressed by Denzel. I was worried he would come in and play hero ball but instead he was super composed played under control. Very promising for next year.

I was at the game and I know it is bad form to complain about officiating when you win but I will only post about one thing. Can the Gators make a tear-away jersey for Condon the next time we play them? 99 for Vandy had fistfuls of fabric as a defensive technique over and over again without a call for it.

And can somebody explain how the goal tending call against Condon was later overturned? Is that a call that can be reviewed? Being at the game all I ever heard was that the call was overturned. I have no idea what the mechanics of that are.

They reviewed and overturned the goaltending on Condon at the under 4 timeout. That is when those things are usually reviewed.

Thanks. I wasn't sure if it was reviewable.

I sit right behind the Moose Man and no way was it a goal tend.

Looked the same on TV Live. I was floored he called that. We had a runout the other way too, should have to give us 2 points for that kind of call.

Yeah, it was amazing that it was ever called a goal-tend. Not even close to one, and the talking heads said that repeatedly and said with confidence that it would be overturned.
    Tremendous block by the Condor.

Yeah, Li'l Pippen would be sent sprawling if you just looked at him.

Gosh, we really really miss Tyrese Samuel this season. Chinyelu is not bad, he just isn't up to the offensive projection that Tyrese gave last season yet... Condon had a great night and Haugh was out there a-hustlin'

Team win, 9 guys in the scoring column and 5 different guys with 3 or more assists. Both teams shot over 50% and both teams left points at the free throw line.

Great to see the bench show up with Clayton out. Hope he's 100% for Auburn.

    3 things:

    1) I am DAMN GLAD the game is 40 minutes. I thought the team played uninspiring in the first half and plenty in the second. The Big 3-1 was not very good, especially on defense. Vandy made some very nice shots and I give them credit, but I did not see the energy that defines this team until they began to make some shots.

    2) I am SO glad that Klavzar used his time on the court to get some sea legs. THAT is what he needed to get over his shock that he is no longer in Kansas. If Clayton hadn't been too gimpy, I seriously doubt he would have gotten his chance this season. Hopefully it keeps up.

    3) The, um, "conventional" m.o. of the refs is to take a temperature of the matchup and decide how to call the game, do it consistently, and sort of try to get the "50-50" calls evenly matched. And conventional wisdom also says that the home team gets more energy from the home fans and so the expectation is that there is a couple of calls that fit the phrase "home cooking" (see Kentucky). And sometimes the calls are, um, "questionable" and so you even out the "questionable" calls so that it is "fair". But that is the last means of a game and not what you want. Call it a silver lining of a dark cloud.

What I saw from the officiating was so damn ridiculous, even though the calls were bad on both sides, that it is still amazing that they have jobs at the major college level. The conference...just...doesn't...care. And that is a damn shame.

    Good win overall.

Martin looked like D.J. Lagway on those deep passes to Condon.

A great night for Aberdeen's development. He'll be ready to lead soon.

Haugh and Condon are who I want next to me in battle.

I have a theory that we need more Aberdeen.

Clearly the scouting report is to play our guards all the way out and to be handsy and physical on them and our bigs 25+' from the basket. This has obviously been effective at disrupting our half-court motion.

Last night we had a different type of PG. One that probes constantly and was able to create many shots of his own. I know he only had 3 assists, but the half-court sets looked less-dysfunctional than they have in a while. The probing created better ball movement at times.

Granted - Vandy's 76 ranked Drtg is a factor here - but we didn't look as confounded last night. A lot less players pivoting 6 times looking for someone to pass to.

For as much grief as he catches, Denzel played an outstanding game. Urban finally shows signs of what he can do and hopefully he will be a regular contributor down the stretch - he can really help this team. Denzel and Haugh as co-6th man is a huge asset for this team.

Agree re the officiating, they swallowed the whistle a lot and it was probably the most physical game I've seen. In the NCAA tourney no way would either team get away with that degree of physicality, in fact I'm a bit concerned that the SEC teams may be in for a shock when refs won't allow such physical play and tons of fouls will be called. SEC teams will have to adjust imo.

Still, short handed the gators fought and won against a very good vandy team. We won't back down.

Great observation, he seems to find a way to penetrate and shoot. Going forward teams will do their best to defend us with pressure D in the half court, limit our fast break points and seek to slow things down. By pressuring our guards it makes it difficult to drive, shoot uncontested shots and dump the ball into our bigs. At least we will know what we're up against in countering this.
