Trump apparently thinks American was great when McKinley was president (maybe that's why he restored the name of the mountain in Alaska). Besides being a big fan of tariffs the Spanish American War occurred during McKinley's Administration and as result of the war we acquired the Philippines, Guam, Cuba and Puerto Rico. Cuba became independent in 1902 and the Philippines in 1946. Guam is still a territory of the US and PR is a commonwealth.
My understanding is that it was the multiple bases the U.S. has in "Islamic lands". Here's a map from 2021 of our bases there.
I wonder if SmartGuy Don would want USAID around to help rebuild his waterfront condo property in ...... Gaza.
I have heard that the coastline of Gaza is some of the best in the world. Build some hotels there with housing to support workers at the hotels and turn it into a tourist destination.
So Monday, trump started and stopped a trade war with 2 of our biggest trading partners. Today, he announced US will take over the Gaza Strip. And Palestinians living there should…… leave…... somewhere. Why? Because we can build it up like the “Riviera” and “we’ll own it”. Oh, and it might require US troops.
Interesting note. As part of negotiations that would lead to an independent Palestinian state that proposal that some Arab villages in Israel be incorporated into the new state in exchange of parts of the West Bank with a lot of Israeli settlements was floated. Residents of the Israeli Arab villages completely rejected the proposal which failed for other reasons most likely as the result opposition from right-wing Israeli parties. Not really sure how serious it was in the first place. This is a more recent article on the possibility of land swaps. Land Swaps: Making the two-state solution feasible - Next Century Foundation
wonder how the middle easterners who helped djt win Michigan feel about now put troops on the ground in Gaza and watch how fast they become target numero uno
you rang I wonder how his saudi investment overlords feel about this or maybe this is what the fund was intended for Jared Kushner says Gaza’s ‘waterfront property could be very valuable’ | Jared Kushner | The Guardian Jared Kushner has praised the “very valuable” potential of Gaza’s “waterfront property” and suggested Israel should remove civilians while it “cleans up” the strip. The former property dealer, married to Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka, made the comments in an interview at Harvard University on 15 February. The interview was posted on the YouTube channel of the Middle East Initiative, a program of Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, earlier this month.
