You have to bear in mind that to him.. .....having a family member gank $2 billion for an investment fund that only generates fees.. ...pretty much is "solving the Middle East. "
By Israel, I believe he means the nation, as in the people, not the country, as in the geographic boundaries.
It is interesting how often people in out-groups are imagined to lack agency. So what happens to Gaza?
Is there a better proposal than returning Gaza to inside the Egyptian borders? That would again become Egypt's largest port east of the Canal.
That isn't the proposal though. As best as I can tell, the proposal is the forcible removal of people from Gaza and the move of them to somewhere else in Egypt or Jordan or Saudi Arabia (which, technically, I believe, is ethnic cleansing). If people in Gaza vote to be part of Egypt, I would be fine with that. But I don't think that their agency should be ignored.
Yes, forcibly removing the Arabs from Gaza and moving in Jewish people would be ethnic cleansing. I don't think that is a serious course of action. As far as the agency of the people of Gaza, I just don't know how you could have a legitimate election there. Hamas rules Gaza by force, and they would never allow the people vote to rejoin Egypt because it would mean Egyptian security forces coming in and breaking Hamas' rule. The common people might be willing to stand with Hamas against Israel, but I doubt they would join in an insurgency against Egypt.
Agreed that it isn't a serious solution. But it is the Trump one right now, unfortunately as best as I can tell. It is a tough question on the election. One thing that I will note: the current line from Israel is that Hamas can no longer control Gaza. But I don't fully buy that line, so it is a definite concern how you run an election in that sort of a scenario (especially as the people we would likely need to run the election don't run elections themselves). And all of this is before considering the obviously negative reaction of Iran and the geopolitics. And, of course, the fact that Egypt doesn't even really want the area. Don't have a real solution there, I just don't love the idea of ignoring Gaza residents' agency as to what country they are in.
Trump Tower Gaza is on the way. Prime Palestinian real estate: Trump’s proposed Gaza ‘clean out’ mixes policy and profits By the way I know the source is a Commie website. That being said the article is essentially Donald Trump's own words.
So now the US is going to “take over” the Gaza Strip ….. “level it” and rebuild it. And, the US will “own it”??! Trump says US will take 'take over' Gaza: 'We'll own it'
Better get that money for Gaza condoms back in play. We won’t want another million Gaza occupants to have to deal with in a couple years. Trump’s sparkling new Middle East Riviera is gonna be difficult enough to build without more folks to have to move/feed/vet/employ/pacify/mollify…
Gaza will be Trump Organization's largest development project ever. It will be so big that no one would believe how big and successful it is. Trump's Riviera of the Middle East.
