Giving Trump some credit and I personally think very little of the grifter-in-chief, I think it was more of a case of Trump playing the American public especially his gullible supporters. Although he probably realized that he wasn't getting very much in return he was still able to con his low information supporters into believing that he somehow pressured Mexico and also Canada for that matter into accepting concessions.

 

Twitter may have dropped in value by 75%, but it leveled the social media playing field, served to protect freedom of speech/ expression (preventing speech suppression), and was very instrumental in avoiding more deep state deception and info manipulation.
