Love what happened on the field, but other shenanigans make me feel he was nothing more than a mercenary.

The Ohio State job wasnt open when Urban left. How could he have already talked to them? They had a great coach who was winning big there.

This is the reason the tOSU job opened up a year after Urban left Florida. The notion that he was talking to them while he was here is a virtual impossibility. Tressel was considered in the same tier as Urban. Ohio State loved him and had no desire to move on from him. But the scandal changed that.

 

Urban had a lot of contact with former and current coaches. To think he didn’t know there was trouble brewing, I think you are not giving any thought to what urban might have said to any of these contacts. I don’t believe in the tooth fairy, I believe arrogant people think they can do what they want. So, the tattoo scandal reared its head and he just did a complete flip to OSU, after telling Gator Nation he wasn’t leaving and needed time to heal, he said he loved it in Gainseville. Perfect his dream job where the money always flowed to players. We all loved the Nattys from the mercenary coach, but the fallout from all the coverups going on in the program left a stench.

I'm confused. You say this as if he didnt take a year off and the scandal didnt happen during that year. He did take time off.

I think the honest answer is he had no idea OSU would open up and he felt he couldnt pass it up, but no chance it had anything to do with him leaving. His first resignation was two years before the osu opportunity popped up

 

He was a trainwreck when he left here. The year off in recovery was big. If he’d gone straight to OSU when he left here, he may not be with us any more. People joke about esophageal spasms and whatever, but he was a mess and was having serious medical issues. Mostly self inflicted, but still serious problems that needed to be dealt with.
