Very cool. I'm sure his suggesting this will pre-empt appx 80 years of them refusing to do so while Israel was a state.

It will give him something to babble about, and his cult something to pretend he's winning at, or really even doing.

That’s not a plan, it’s a joke. First off Trump may think he’s king of the world and other countries will do his bidding, but they won’t, and they’ve already said they won’t.

Finally if Trump wants to do anything useful he should allow Palestinians to live in peace, secure their right to self-determination free of Hamas, and stop Israel from further annexing parts of Gaza and the West Bank for colonies.

 

Meh. I don’t think anything will work and I am usually an optimist. Most Arab nations have shown zero empathy for Palestinians they just like that they kill Israelis. I am not sure that is a bond Trump can leverage.

Plus, not to be skeptical, but he said he’d solve Ukraine on day 1 and now he is extorting them for rare earth materials.

 

The problem is that those people are so radicalized that not even Jordan nor Egypt want anything to do with those radicals. I doubt any Arab nation wants them.

Also, what is that fool actually thinking - there are appx 2 million people in Gaza. How many must go to make a real difference? Will it be 300,000 to Egypt, 100,000 to Saudi Arabia, 100,000 to Jordan, 100,000 to the other Gulf states? Ludicrous.

Ands then what - so Gaza is clear for settlement by.... um, Israelis? Yeah, that will fly: "Please leave your homeland so we can give it to Israel."

Also, everyone should be able to see a pathetic, yet amusing, other scenario developing there; who is going to be paying for the rebuilding of Gaza? We just killed off USAID, presumably to "save" the appx $50B in annual aid..... but what should be be expecting to soon be asked to pay for Gaza? At least a quarter of that?

Can't wait for him to propose that we concentrate the Palestinians. Maybe into camps with special showers. Elon would happily spend US tax dollars on those and would call them......Concentration Camps. Camp #1 would probably be called Musk-schwitz.

The only sustainable solution is for Egypt to take back Gaza and all of the Egyptians who live there, and Jordan to take back parts of the West Bank (lines subject to negotiation) and all of the Jordanians who live there. Jordan and Egypt are, of course, the obstacles to such a plan, so they would need to be bought off in some way to resume the headache of administering and policing those lands. But step one is dropping this fiction that there is any such thing as a “Palestinian.” It is a made-up term for Arabs who live inside the modern borders of Israel. Prior to 1967, no one called a resident of Gaza or Ramallah a “Palestinian.” They were Egyptians and Jordanians, respectively. They still are.

 

Interestingly prior to formation of the State of Israel in 1948, the term "Palestinian" was used to refer to Jews born in Palestine as opposed to Jewish immigrants from other countries. While the term "Palestinian" in reference to Palestinian Arabs predates 1967 (it probably goes back to the creation of the PLO in 1964) prior to the creation of the Israel as a country Palestinian Arabs self-identified as Arabs. The 1947 UN resolution partitioning Palestine didn't refer to a Jewish State and a Palestinian State it referred to a Jewish State and an Arab state. By the way Jordan wants nothing to do with the Palestinians. In 1970 the PLO tried to overthrow the Heshemite Kingdom of then King Hussein. The PLO was defeated by the Jordanian Army and expelled to Lebanon in what is referred to as Black September. There is no way that King Abdullah will risk a repeat.

 

That's simply not true. There was Palestinian nationalism before Israel existed. The Zionists simply had better lobbying, a stronger European presence (that Europeans didnt mind seeing leaving) and were more organized, and got the British to sign off on Balfour. And of course, that invigorated Palestinian nationalism as a response. Nothing quite stirs up nationalism like a bunch of foreign colonists coming to take your land!

Agree that neither Egypt nor Jordan want these lands or the people back. That is why the world would have to appeal to their interest and make it worth it. But if someone has a better idea, then I'm listening. Nothing else proposed has the combination of acceptability, suitability, and feasibility. The preferred Arab course of action of wiping out the Jewish population from the river to the sea will not work because the Arabs are not able. The converse of clearing Arab lands inside of Israel by way of the suitcase or the coffin will not work because the Jewish people are not willing. A two-state solution is not suitable because even the entire West Bank (which the Arabs would not get in any case) and Gaza combined do not make for a viable state. The amalgamation of Arab-majority lands inside Israel into existing, viable Arab countries is the only course of action that might actually work sustainably.

 

I love the hubris of thinking you're gonna waltz right in and solve the Middle East. He should sign an executive order declaring they quit killing each other
