The only interesting thing about this thread, besides that an ostensibly grown man would take this much time just to troll with some not-witty GIFs, is that it hasn't been locked or deleted.

Thread is like Trump; sullies everyone who associates with it. Congrats, I guess.

MAGA mods protect MAGA posters. Just like MAGA Trump protects his beloved MAGA January 6th criminals. When it comes to that contingent, one dirty hand washes the other and that applies to every level, whether it’s on the internet or real life.

    *corny ass gif incoming*

How could any of you responding to this troll thread have missed Philnotfil? His presence and good sense on this forum have been absent since Nov. 13th. Shortly after making that post he sent me an email telling me he would not be back.

Look who's barking. I think your bark is worse than your bite, but I suspect you slobber a lot when you are over heated.

I've been posting on this site for more than 20 years. The only other time Phil has absented himself for a notable length of time was after a particularly ugly series of posting attacks instigated by DaveFla in June, 2017. They were vicious and uncalled for. You may remember that incident, Bill.

I took up for Phil, as DaveFla gad formerly used the same vicious tactics on me and others. Oklahoma then sent me a PM to back off and let Nana and him handle Dave. I complied but he still placed a warning on my account that was deserved. As far as OKL knew it was the first one I had ever received. And it was the first one I had ever been notified of receiving. But you knew there were more, didn't you?

Anyway, Dave took up with the GGordon_Liddy's group and fled to chat elsewhere a month or two later. Phil did not post here for several years, returning only at my invitation and encouragement. I don't think he will be returning. This place smells like a kennel that needs a good hosing.

It is so much worse than that. An untold number of FBI agents could be about to lose their jobs. Why? Simply because they were involved in investigating J6. FBI agents are having to fill out a questionnaire about any J6 investigative involvement.

I don't know what to say anymore about what is happening to this country. Can someone help me? And I'm not interested in hearing from the Trumpists here with whatever insults. I'd like to hear from some objective minds.

If he rates a post with "off-topic" it's probably an indication that it really irked him.

I still pop in from time to time, but try to avoid anything Trump related, or national politics generally. My last true political post was around 1pm on Election Day, because either way the crazy was coming that night and I didn’t want any part of it. The one exception since the election was the government EO around grant funding/DEI because they impacted me and my work (mostly tangentially). But it will probably stay that way for the rest of this term at a minimum.
That wasn’t the only reason I stepped back though, this place has always been a microcosm of the larger societal discourse, and as opinions between the two sides keep getting farther and farther apart there’s no room for moderation or middle ground. Political facts especially now have to be ignored or “created” on both sides to rationalize unreconcilable positions, which isn’t interesting debate for me, even if some people here are still posting decent stuff. While it’s always been the case, the whole idea of folks posting here to speak and not to hear has also seemingly gotten worse, so no minds are going to be changed by anything. Then the last choice of forum mod was something that made the decision easier. So my time here will continue to be limited, mostly non political stuff that’s interesting and far less contentious.
But appreciate some of the kind words in the thread.

I'm with you on that. I fear we're in the early stages of the republic's death. All the campaign talk about a threat to democracy wasn't some political BS, it was stating the obvious. And watching the republic's slow death is about as much fun as watching a close relative die. The only way to enjoy coming to this forum anymore is to stay out of Trump-related threads. And it can't be done gradually. Like trying to quit smoking, the only way to do it is to go cold turkey. So here goes.
