Grenell secures the release of Americans held hostage in Venzuela

While the release of the hostages is definitely good news it wouldn't surprise me if the release wasn't in exchange for some type of quid pro quo possibly the lifting of some or all of the sanctions against the Maduro regime.

 

We will see. It would be pretty hard to hide the lifting of sanctions.

 

So if sanctions had to be lifted would you just let those Americans rot in jail over there?

I have no problem with the decision if it turns out to be accurate although I would add that if Biden did the same you and the other Trumpers would be bashing him for kowtowing to Maduro the Commie.

 

I would also add that Venezuela has a serious labor shortage. Accepting immigrants returned to the country is actually a sound economic decision for Maduro. Also keep in mind that most of the migrants returned to Venezuela will not be criminals but Venezuelans who emigrated to the US for political or economic reasons. Trump just decided to withdraw Temporary Protected Status from 350,000 Venezuelans in effect changing their status from legal to deportable. Maduro will gladly welcome them back.
