Let’s not forget after this loss. Tennessee is still a good team. Number two defense in the country. And they were looking for revenge after being embarrassed on our home turf. We need to learn how to play better on the road in a neutral field. Still I think we’re a final four team. Go gators.
True, but let's also not put lipstick on a pig. 44 pts is about half the Gators' average. They gotta wash the stink of . . . stat!
Just don't put too much emphasis on any one regular season game game either way. With one exception: UcheaT will never, ever live down being beaten worse as the #1 team than any other team in the history of all college basketball for over the last 55 YEARS . . . by a hated rival!
Sure, but let's be honest. Very few will ever remember that distinction. It's arguable that with two starters out, TN's blowout win was more impressive than ours. Just being honest.
It’s not the end of the world, but it was still a horrible loss any way you approach it. Down their floor general and leading rebounder and we got it handed to us. If they played inspired and got a little lucky and beat us I’d be fine. But this was a pathetic performance. Easily the low point of the season.
About as far from our best effort as it could possible be, and our best player was hampered fairly early. You love to win these perfect setups for a loss but, all things considered, not gonna let this one bother me. Learn and move on.
Whatever. We all knew this was coming. It’s just one game. Not worried whatsoever. Shake it off and get your mind right for the remainder of this gauntlet we just entered. Vandy, Miss st and definitely Auburn can beat us.
It snowballed. They played great physical ball and they had good luck to go with it. A lot fell for them and not much for us. Bury the film under a rock and get on with it.
The main concern is Clayton’s ankle. If he’s not 100%, that could be an issue for multiple games, and that’s assuming he even plays (obviously turning it around by Tuesday is far from a given). Less worried about the overall team performance. Yeah it was bad, but scoring points is generally not an issue. It’s just a shame because UT seemed vulnerable, and even with that stinker of a 1st half we were right there. 2nd half we were just sort of lost. Clayton was trying to push but you could tell he was gimpy. The rest of the team brought *nothing*.
Nah....to lose an away game, fine. To have an entire week to prepare as an experienced team, only to come out looking not interested, lost, dazed and confused is an entirely different spin on this...
Gotta feel like this team is still in line to achieve its goals, or should I say what I presume is their goals, but they know what they are and are not. Now is the time for the Big 3 to lead. We shall see. Gonna also say that Klavzar should have gotten more minutes early so that he could be better equipped coming down the stretch. Probably too late now with the tough schedule. This team is missing a dead eye shooter...BAD. Hit the right combination of offense with quality defense (depends on the opponent and their mojo at the time) and this team CAN reach the FF. Hit the wrong combination, like against Tennessee, and they WILL check out before they get through the second (or even the first) week of the tourney. It is what it is. Watch and enjoy, regardless.
I certainly didn't expect them to get beat by 20 and only score 44 pts. I did expect a slow ugly game like what Auburn and tenn played the other night. I didnt get to watch it, had a kid playing rec ball and a bday party all during the game, listened to maybe half of it. I dont think we beat many teams when Martin starts the way he did, 0 pts in his first 19 mins. The 2 games we looked the worst, Martin struggled in both. Listening to it, our bigs had a rough game around the rim, and that's worrisome as well. Gotta regroup and get back on track against Vandy this week, who also got rocked against OU.
People forget, Clayton was the only guy scoring in the first half for us yesterday, and even he wasn't having a particularly good day. But we only trailed by 1 point when he went down. Things just kind of fell apart from there. I hope Clayton can play Tuesday, but if not, so be it. Other guys need to make buckets and they probably will at home. We really need to get Condon and Haugh scoring in the lane. I'd love CTG to demand we feed Condo down low with at least some touches on the first few possessions. Guy needs to slow down a bit, make a couple soft shots, and get some confidence in his game. Haugh had a steady arc of improvement on offense until recently, and then just suddenly refused to attack the rim on offense. Go for it, dude! You're an 80% free-thrower. Make them foul you.
The only bright spot for me was I didn’t watch one second of this game. I’ve missed a few since moving to CSTimexone. If they get the start time wrong, I’ll probably miss the games, being an hour earlier. When my friend texted a sad face, I knew we lost. But, I’m grateful I didn’t see one second of it!
Gators suck. Fire Todd Golden. It's Strickland's fault. Fire him too. The Refs cheated us. IF Handy would have played we would have won. Green is sarcasm, right? Honestly, I LOVE This team. Even the 04's put up stinkers.
1 game. Learn. Move on. Next up: Vandy. Win big. Then prepare for @Auburn and apply lessons learned from @UT.
It's better to miss these kinds of games for one's mental stability. Games like @UT and @UK - where I know I'm going to have an aneurism if I watch, I always make backup plans. That way if we lose I don't waste my day or night, but if we win I'll watch the game and highlights after I know we've already won. One could debate that doesn't make me a true fan, but I'd rather be happy than miserable watching us get outscored 40-23 in a half.
And shoot your open 3s with confidence- In a game like yesterday’s, there’s nothing wrong with a 30ish % chance at 3 points - maybe they’re not the greatest shots you can get, but he was wide open and is a good enough shooter to have at 30plus %.
I was hoping Tommy would be the shooter we need but it hasn't panned out. He gets so many wide open looks but he's just not hitting them at a good clip. If he could shoot even high 30s, he could be a real difference maker, especially whey other guys are off. Maybe next year his 3 point shooting will improve like his free throw spring did this year. But you are correct, we have no deadly 3 point shooter on this team. Condon at 40% is actually our best 3 point shooter by percentage, if you don't count Brown in his limited minutes shooting 42%.
