I’m sure many people, today, are happy with a press corps that can be controlled and manipulated, versus professional press who search for the truth through journalistic tools.

So should these outlets lose their Pentagon space?

Absolutely not. Sites that may, or may not, settle with Trump over his fake claims brought solely because he has indicated his willingness to use the powers of the federal government against them are ......... obviously quite different from cases settled (for up to 60x more money, in fact) in which a company which has no such federal power, is suing solely based upon the merits of the case.

It's not surprising at all that you don't see the difference. Actually, that would be tremendously surprising, as the differences are obvious and you're an intelligent person.

The reality is most likely that you simply don't care that Trump threatens to use political power to intimidate media. After all you did knowingly cast a presidential vote for a criminal.

There's a very strong incentive to settle defamation lawsuits when the plaintiff has the power to destroy or seriously damage the business of the defendant. Keep in mind that Trump effectively controls the FCC as well as the FTC and Anti-Trust Division of the DOJ. To use a metaphor from a classic gangster movie, it's the Don making an offer that the defendant can't refuse.

I agree with you and while it is somewhat off topic it is also a reason that lawsuits are settled and fines are paid rather than fight them.

People that are educated are overwhelmingly supporters of anyone but the Party of Rogan. It's okay, when you have to admit one day that you were duped by the person that launched Trump coin, we will forgive you.

No doubt - DOGE is hiring Obama and Lois Lerner to consult. Why reinvent the wheel?

I would submit that the correct and more precise description here is “credentialed,” not educated. They have a piece of paper - does not necessarily mean they are learned nor wise.

example: the idiocy shown by some of our most prestigious universities in the last 15 months. Bunch of Einsteins showing out how “credentialed” they were.

the press corp has been an extension of the democrat party for over 20 years and you are ytrying to make a case for some sort of manipulation by the Trump Admin- that is laughable

    Not really.

What he said was basically; in these cases you mention, we are looking at lawsuits involving a powerful person willing to unlawfully use the powers of the federal government to punish adversaries.

However, in the settled cases against the purveyors of fake news, who repeated the defamatory lies of the person who you personally voted for ....... it was a standard case of one business filing a lawsuit against another, and the second choosing to settle for a massive amount due to their realization that they were going to lose a fair trial. For defamation. For repeating the lies of the person who, again, you voted for.

There's a tremendously big difference - and one you are clearly too intelligent to fail to recognize.

Do you simply try to falsely equate the two in order to overlook the criminality and abuse of federal powers that you, and others, endorsed with your vote?

If so, as you're well aware, the rest of the population -at least the informed portion- certainly does NOT overlook that endorsement of criminality.

    Only 20 years?
I can recall Nixon whining about the press treating him poorly about 50 years ago during Watergate.

    That's a negative, Ghostrider.

Just a guy that loves Top Gun and is disgusted with the current state of American politics, and people who would knowingly vote for a demonstrably racist, un-American, criminal sexual assaulter.

This thread is about the Pentagon instituting press credentials for right-wing purveyors of fake news, several of whom have had to pay huge settlements for defamation. For publishing the outright lies of the liar who you voted for.

Could you please try to stay on topic, sir?

The only metaphorical "homerun" to be hit in this thread is by mocking the Trump Administration for empowering literal fake news.

Pretty sure that's already been hit.
