I don't like the short bench playing an up-tempo style. It wears your team down when they are playing 35 minutes during the course of the season. Also if anyone gets hurt, then everyone's minutes go up. Short benches are for half court teams.

 

1pt Q1 loss = horrendous?

 

I didn't get to see the game as I was with my youngest son at the Panthers vs Blackhawks match in Sunrise. Also with my wife and her fellow lawyer lady friend that actually worked the arena for Panther's games in her younger days.

I knew that UT would be physical and slow things to a crawl but we must have really played badly on offense even against a great defensive team playing at home with the usual compliment of "home cooking".

I don't know if I want to watch a replay. It might make me ill.

 

What game was that today?

 

Watching Big Sam stare at our guard to pass it to him, 7 or 8’ away, of course it is intercepted. Haugh and Sam pick up their dribbles and made passes any decent team will pick. Haugh twice wide open with time, clanks his shot like he is trying to steal a basket, showing no confidence in his shot. Our Bigs are are not even trying to shoot, just pass the ball.
I am discouraged as it was my birthday today and we embarrassed ourselves, the Gator Nation and we are heading into rough uncharted waters. We need coaching for our half court offense, since we don’t have one. We are kings of launching errant misses.

 

I think the thing that troubles me the most is this seemed very Mike White'ish. The 3 wasn't working, yet we just kept settling and seeking it. That was a thing I loved about last years team and we saw it early this year. Get to the rim when 3s aren't falling.

Other than that, the news is out.... Our offense falls apart with handsy pressure D beyond the 3 pt line. We can beat it, but not with lazy passes and picking up the dribble.

Oh, and we need an APB on Condon.

 

Add confidence in shooting the ball.

 

Worst performance in years.

 

Today's game (now yesterday's) was a total fiasco. What I am talking about is our approach to the entire season. If anyone gets us into a slow down half court game they have the advantage. The best way to combat that is to run fresh players at them to keep the pace at the level we want it so they eventually will tire and we can get our transition buckets and go on our runs. I shouldn't really call them transition buckets, because some of them are just really early in the shot clock before the defense is set properly.

I just think it is really hard to do when you are basically playing 7.5 players. Alexis isn't even averaging 10 minutes in his last 4 games before this one.
