In a pre-hearing questionnaire obtained by RealClearInvestigations, Senate Democrats asked Ratcliffe, “Do you agree with the ICA’s judgments,” specifically that “Putin’s goals in influencing the 2016 presidential election included ‘denigrat[ing] Secretary Clinton, and harm[ing] her electability and potential presidency’ ”? They also asked Ratcliffe if he concurred with the ICA’s finding that "Putin and the Russian government developed a clear preference for President-elect Trump.”

Ratcliffe answered that after reviewing the ICA’s underlying intel, including sources and methods, he could only agree that “Russia’s goal was to undermine confidence in U.S. democratic institutions and sow division among the American people,” according to page 38 of the document.

He noted that “Russian social media campaigns included efforts to both support and criticize candidate Trump as well as candidate Clinton, further suggesting an overarching goal of promoting discord.” In other words, he saw no concrete evidence to support a plot by Putin to side with Trump against Clinton. In the questionnaire, Ratcliffe also pointed out that Moscow has “long used” propaganda, disinformation, and cyberattacks to target not only U.S. elections but also those in other Western democracies, implying its 2016 influence operation was nothing new.

Obviously, none of this is a surprise, but it is still extremely alarming that we had such a robust operation at the top levels of our government to disenfranchise the political threat that was Donald J. Trump. The media was complicit, knowing full well Moscow attempting to play a role in our elections has been going on since the Stalin era.

Shocked! You mean to say folks had a predetermined, may I say "prejudged," agenda and ran with the part that fit their worldview?

Theatre - it's all theatre. And, a bored and purposeless people eat it up so that we're offered nonsense like "Could this be the worst week 2 of any President?" to the 10th power, leveraged by social media, bots; and, yes, other nation states because....we must know this second how some basketball player or actor feels about POTUS and something he said.

It's the new bread and circus routine from Rome. Enjoy the rancor, if you will.

On the one hand, you have Donald Trump's handpicked lackey saying what Donald Trump wants to hear. On the other hand, you have both the intelligence community with "high confidence" and the unanimous finding of the Senate Intelligence Committee, whose majority was actually Republican at the time. Tough to figure out who to believe in this instance.

Seems to be a prime example of the winner writing or more accurately re-writing history. Color me skeptical but I do not trust anything from Trump or any one of his appointees.

When I first read that line I thought I was reading a post from a Trump hater until I looked to the left and saw your name. Think about it. The new CIA director is a Trump picked "loyalty oath" guy saying what he's being paid to say...

So you agree it works both ways? Or, are you going with the gatorjo narrative that everything and anything that goes bad in this world is the fault of Trump?

Ten times the number of journalists say they are Democrats vs Republicans (36% to 3.4%) - most claim to be Independents.

Why does the Left hate diversity (of opinion?) These Right leaning media minorities deserve a voice. DEI for perspective. Or, do your own arguments fall flat?
