It's hard to see how a large number of people could be in on a presidential assassination and keep their mouths shut for long. Some might have confessed and been dismissed as liars or crackpots. Some would probably have been murdered. It will be interesting to see what's in the files. The RFK Jr and MLK files will also be interesting.

Oh, people have talked. Former CIA agent E. Howard Hunt, when he thought he was dying, made a deathbed confession on tape. He calls himself "a benchwarmer" in the assassination, and he names LBJ, CIA agent David Morales, and CIA agent Cord Meyer (whose ex-wife was a mistress of JFK) among the culprits. (There is a photo of a man in a trench coat who is dead ringer for Hunt, crossing Elm Street to the Grassy Knoll right after the shooting.) Two witnesses told HSCA investigator Gaeton Fonzi that the CIA's Morales once went on a drunken tirade about JFK and said, "We took care of that son of a bitch, didn't we?" According to his brother, CIA agent David Atlee Phillips admitted on his deathbed that he was in Dallas that day. Anti-Castro activist and CIA asset John Martino reportedly told his wife, "They're going to kill him when he gets to Dallas." But hey, the CIA had some Mob help, right? (Like using a Mob flunky named Jack Ruby.) According to Mob lawyer Frank Ragano, Mob boss Santo Trafficante said shortly before his death that he and Carlos Marcello (whose territory included Dallas) set up the assassination.

The Mob lost alot of money when Castro took Cuba. They are reportedly a vengeful organization. Did the CIA blame Kennedy for the half-hearted Bay Of Pigs Failed invasion? Was LBJ a blood-thirsty SOB?

He most likely was involved in the assassination and escalated a war that the population didn’t want and he didn’t try to win. I’d say that qualifies as a blood-thirsty SOB

That's what Morales was ranting about. (He was involved not only in the Bay of Pigs, but the overthrow of the (democratic) Guatemalan government, and the hunting down of Che Guevara.)

    Great info, thanks.

Do you think they'll be renaming the LBJ Freeway in the Dallas-Fort Worth area anytime soon?

Nixon was there for the Pepsi convention, but saw fit to leave town before the shooting started. Which was just as well, since Nixon couldn't shoot straight anyway.

Looks like the JFK files won't be released for a while:

The executive order demands that the attorney general and director of national intelligence “present a plan within 15 days for the full and complete release” of the JFK assassination records. Next, they will “immediately review” the records related to the RFK and MLK Jr. assassinations and present a plan for their release within 45 days.

That doesn’t necessarily mean that we will see these documents in a matter of weeks. The timeline is for the Justice Department and director of national intelligence to issue a plan. The actual process could take far longer. For one, both departments have a lot of other priorities under the new president. Plus both departments are currently being led by acting heads, as Trump’s nominees (Pam Bondi for attorney general and Tulsi Gabbard for director of national intelligence) await Senate confirmation.
When Will the Declassified JFK Files Be Released Publicly?
