Real World was already an institution by the late 90s. I distinctly remember my college roommates and I holding a real world fantasy-style draft for the new season. There was no scoring system, we just had to unfailingly back whoever we drafted. Back when pre-DVR communal viewing was a thing - like I said ancient history.

Perhaps I shouldn't be surprised considering that it's Fox News and the comments of their talking heads are the height of irresponsibility. Rather than praising Trump the most responsible follow-up to Trump's ranting press conference should have been wait until the NTSB reaches its conclusion. It wasn't the role of the President to speculate as to the cause of the crash and what's really sad I have very little doubt that Trump's willfully ignorant supporters will actually believe their Dear Leader that unqualified air traffic controllers hired as a result of DEI were responsible for the tragedy.

You mean the station that employs Jesse Waters who asks the hard hitting questions such as “what kind of husband goes grocery shopping with his wife?” isn’t real news? Shocked I tell you.

Sound much more like a description of Trump's supporters who will most likely take his anti-DEI rant seriously.

It was reported that the pilot of the helicopter had over 1,000 hours and the co pilot had 500 hours of flight time.

Doesnt matter, Trump will claim that they were stressed out from all the DEI they were subjected to. They were distracted by trying to remember someone's pronouns or something.

Who the heck knows the true cause of the crash? No one, not yet. Trump's bloviations make him popular with both the Far Right (Go Team!) and the Far Left ( we lost to this? ). The other 90% of Americans go about their daily lives trying to do their best. Godspeed to all those who perished. And, yes, Trump should STFU until facts emerge.

Trump and the Republicans are not responsible for the tragedy. However, his self analysis at the podium today needs to stop, we saw that during COVID and it was bad. Calling out people when you don't have the facts isn't leadership, but not unexpected from a Boomer.

Just like Biden, he's too old and out of touch with the world. In less than 5 years, it will be the 2030s. The 1980s will be 50 years ago. It's time for a newer generation to take over leadership roles in govt and industry.

I just learned that Mark Motherbaugh's biggest source of annual income is about $1m a year from that theme which is just a retooling of Uncontrollable Urge which 1 could say is a ripoff of Misty Mountain Hop. True story, about 10 years ago I was visiting an old UF bud & first thing we did was a 10 min jam with me on guitar & him on drums. When we were done, he asked, Zeppelin? I said, Devo. this guy gets it.

So you think it’s just the “far left” and “far right cult” that care.

What about the traffic controllers Trump basically just threw under the bus with no basis? What about minorty 1st responders who are fully qualified but might now start hearing more “DEI hire” nonsense from MAGA chuds?

No need for false equivocations. Just call a spade a spade.

Love that after like a decade of Trump in politics people are still like "he shouldn't do the behavior he's known for doing and has been doing his whole worthless life." Yeah, you can fix him if you just scold people on the internet more lol.

I think some of it is trying to shame his supporters. But the last year has shown that many of them are no more fixable. Basically, as long as they can have their generalized resentment directed at some outside source instead of themselves (which is what the "DEI" stuff was designed to do today) and have what they view as entertainment on TV, they will be happy.

Definitely looking like it was the fault of the Black Hawk. I mean how did they not see the plane? Plane was on a standard approach.

I don't think it's wrong to bring up DEI. I'm very interested to know who the pilots of the Black Hawk are. Already heard the co-pilot was a woman. Would like to know the race as well. If they don't tell you, it'll be a minority woman, which means high chance it was DEI.

And that's the evil of DEI. It strips minorities of the ability to get there on their own competency, talent and knowledge. Without DEI, I wouldn't question if a minority is truly qualified. I do now.

I will not see a doctor under 40 who is a minority, especially a woman minority. And I always get more nervous if it's a woman or minority as a pilot. Again, I hate to say it, but it makes you question. Did they truly earn the spot, or was it largely given to them?

I just don't see even a semi-competent pilot in the Helicopter making this type of catastrophic mistake.

I think its the opposite actually. The "Trump should wait for the investigation/facts" people are almost always directing those comments at his opponents, because there is a baked in assumption that Trump supporters are all just mindless chuds without agency, no one takes the time to scold them (the "elite" press cant seem to get enough of 'this diner patron still supports Trump after x' content). Its manufacturing consent the other way. It will be on to the next thing in a couple of days. Its not unlike the "dont politicize gun violence" scolding when shootings happen. Its all about turning the temperature down, so power is free to operate.

It's funny to see the shameless Trump supporters make excuses for his vile politicizing of more than one deadly disaster within weeks.

    Trump is vile human garbage.

And you actually voted for him to be President of the United States of America. :)

It’s now being reported they didn’t have the separate helicopter air traffic controller that they usually have, that the person on duty had to combine roles. It was described as “not normal” for the amount of traffic, but acceptable by minimum FAA standards to have both planes and helicopters under one control.

Still hard to see how it’s not the military helicopter majority at fault, but if there was a person focused only on helicopter traffic they may have had more chance to verbally intervene with that pilot. Now we don’t know why it was a shorthand situation. Just general staff issues? Someone called out sick? Some cost cutting maneuvre gone awry?
