I want to thank you and let others know that I bought two games from you and the process was fast and seamless. (after my old self figured it out!)
CONSPIRACY THEORY! I believe some people in the UAA are purposely delaying adding the televised games to the schedule just because I emailed them. Perhaps they are PO’ed because I told them they were deficient last year compared to SEC and in-state competitors. Maybe I’m just PARANOID!! Kidding, of course. I do hope the delay means they are trying to find a way to televise every game.
Long time lurker, first time poster here. Appreciate the news and insight from members in this forum, especially given the UAA's neglect (IMO) of outreach and communications for one of the school's most successful and popular sports. You all perform a service to fellow fans and I thank you. As we gear up for another exciting season, I have a request: please consider carefully the way in which you discuss Gator softball players on this or any public forum. While I do appreciate the above-mentioned insights, I have seen some posts this offseason that I find troubling in terms of their commentary about players' appearance. In several instances this goes beyond general commentary (describing a player as a "beautiful blonde," etc)--which I already think is not appropriate--to the point of comments that sexualize players and/or talk about specific body parts, etc. I doubt many of those making such comments would be so eager to do so were the pictures of young people in their families or friend circles. It should be obvious, then, why it's not appropriate to say these things about strangers. I ask that commenters think carefully about making these kinds of comments about student-athletes who are NOT here for the titillation of spectators, but to compete and win championships representing the University of Florida. They are deserving of our respect and support.
I'd be curious to know the view on Oliva Dunne, Livvy to her Patreon fans, earning a six figure yearly salary based simply on posting photos of herself in a gymnastics leotard or scantily dressed. With no other skill set. I've asked multiple females, i.e. 18-25 years old, the same question. Without exception, they have zero issue with it. Some of them even saying I'm old fashioned and a prude if I don't agree. And before it's pointed out. I understand the difference between personally posted photos and publicly posted photos. That said, it still doesn't make it any less confusing. Should Jeff Cardozo stop using this catch-phrase when a Gator baseball player is about to score? "He's rounding third and he's a brown haired handsome man". Gatorzone posted a video of the 2015 Gator SB team preparing for a game. They spent hours doing their makeup. Things that make you go hummm. And whatever you do. Don't Google why women began wearing rouge centuries ago. Or, more specifically, what it replicates from nature. Did I mention how confusing the world has become?
Great song, and an even better video. See if you can identify all of the old ballplayers in the video. John Fogerty - Centerfield I love the clip of Yogi Berra running out to the mound to jump on Don Larsen after the last out of the perfect game.
I'm sorry rtins67 but I think you are way off base here. I think there is nothing wrong with referring to a player as a beautiful blonde if in fact she is. If I walked up to Taylor Schwarz ( X blonde Gator softball player) and told her she was a beautiful blonde or if I walked up to Katelynn Okley and told her she was an attractive redhead, I think they both would thank me for the compliment.
You posted it. Welcome. Not everyone agrees. Don’t get your panties in a wad because based on your first paragraph you share the same feeling about the UAA. You can be a great contributor. By the way, most of us feel the ladies are, virtually, part of our families, like kids, grand kids or in my case great grand kids.
I think everyone agrees that there is a line that shouldn't be crossed. We all can differ where we think that line is. Debating where the line is, or is not, really won't change any opinions. I'd suggest that this message board is not the proper forum for that discussion. So let's get back to softball! As a long time sunshine-pumper I'm usually pretty optimistic at the start of a season. But this season is way over the top. I think it's going to be epic! Go Gators!
Our epic season starts on Saturday evening when we get the chance to meet the team and coaches again at the "First Pitch" Banquet. I am pumped to talk to our young ladies and the coaches. I am looking forward to meeting Coach Stephanie and to welcome Kirsti Merritt back. If I understand it, Kirsti will speak to the Team (correct me if I'm am wrong).
A couple years ago at South Carolina when I first met Kendra's parents, they asked me which girl on the field was mine. I answered, "All of the them are; I love all of them. All of the Gators are my girls; I love this team."
I mostly agree. However, the "beautiful blonde" comment was mine. I don't remember the exact post I was replying to but it was something like "you love Taylor". My response was, "what's not to love? She is a tall, beautiful blonde, who hits for average and power and runs with the wind". I see absolutely nothing wrong with that sentence and can't fathom how it could be demeaning to her. Now, I don't personally know her and would never walk up to her face and say "wow...you're a beautiful blonde". That would be inappropriate. I do not see any contradiction in the two situations.
