That's the most irritating part of it all. Seeing Cardale Jones on the OSU board, you have to wonder what his benefits are...

I noticed that, interesting. Every year is different, with new challenges for revenue/expenses. Most programs on average are probably barely in the black as it is. Now they’ve got to kick out $20-25mil to athletes. Some “booster” $$$$ is already being redirected towards buying players. What happens when that ramps up?

The ones barely in the black are the good ones.

No doubt. That status should be immediately revoked for every collective in the country by the IRS ASAP.

Are there any other charities, that people willingly donate to, whose primary goal is to provide 6 to 7 figure incomes?

Isn’t that what most of them are? Slush funds? Churches certainly use them for that, as do celebrities and politicians.

It won't go back to bags because NIL will still be legal. Elite players will still command stupid money, but the question becomes will boosters still pony up for the next level kids knowing they are already getting a nice check from the school? There is a tipping point somewhere, and it will be different at each school. But the school payout will certainly mitigate some of the NIL payouts.

The ones that want to spend it will continue to do so. I don’t think it will be much different than it is now. Especially if the school’s portion is divided up across the entire athletic dept, and I don’t see how they’ll get around that.

Yeah, they’re still avoiding the employee issue. This is just giving the schools permission to pay for NIL directly. That’s the way I understood it anyway.

Yep. IF the big schools break away and establish some type of salary cap and limits on portal/transfer ala the NFL then you have a true business structure. Eventually it probably goes that way

Yep, just because the school "thinks" the booster base will donate enough money to offset that revenue share, doesn't mean that a few boosters won't keep some or all of their money to use for "NIL" opportunities.

No, he’s being literal. Employees with salaries or actual wages have lots of rights. That’s not what’s happening here.

Saying salaries never go down is also patently false. People are forced to take pay cuts and positions are eliminated daily in all walks of life. If one of our boosters decided he was no longer going to contribute to NIL, every athlete at UF with an NIL deal would see what you’re calling a salary decrease on their next contract. Maybe on the current one as it may bankrupt the collective.

On a case by case basis of course there are pay cuts. I mean overall things don’t get cheaper including payments to athletes, call it whatever you want it’s cheaper now than it’s ever going to be. That’s the point I’m making. More will always be expected to compete for titles.

Will players be paid more or less as the years go on? This isn’t hard, I know you want a gotcha on semantics but whether it’s a salary or not it is not going to get any cheaper. That was my point now please stop being dense.

And again you don't grasp the differences....not my fault you mispoke and now want to spin.
What the players get moving forward will be heavily dictated by the structure they operate within. As I posted above, IF they actually were to become employees and draw salaries then there would also be limits on transfers....which would serve to prevent escalated payments as boosters wouldn't be as aggressive poaching guys that had to sit out. Right now the players have the best of both worlds, that's not sustainable so a new structure is inevitable.
Fyi, I don't need to gotcha. You make it too easy
