Another day, another national emergency that warrants throwing out all rules and regulations to advance an agenda.

What qualifies something as a national emergency. Is it totally subjective up to potus or is it quantifiable measurements that must be hit?

environmental attorneys cha ching....let the lawsuits begin

Trump Orders Federal Government Control Over California Water

President Donald Trump is asserting more federal government control over water management decisions in California and ordering US officials to override local authorities, casting the steps as necessary to boost the state’s firefighting capabilities. The actions — enshrined in an executive order that was published Sunday but dated Friday — came as Trump visited California to examine devastation from the wildfires ravaging Los Angeles and after days of withering criticism of the state’s response to the blazes.

The order builds on Trump’s day-one declaration that the US is in the grip of an energy emergency by directing federal officials to expedite exemptions waiving protections under the Endangered Species Act for a complex of dams, reservoirs and other facilities that irrigate farmland across California’s Central Valley and supply water to millions of people.

Trump is also directing meetings of a committee of cabinet-level officials that can green light ventures even when the survival of a species is at stake. The panel, known informally as the “God Squad,” has met only a handful of times over the past four decades.

Imperiled plants and animals listed for protection under the Endangered Species Act have figured prominently in Trump’s criticism of the state’s firefighting efforts. He’s repeatedly blamed efforts to protect the endangered delta smelt, a tiny fish that lives in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta Estuary, where fresh and salty water mix.

Yesterday: "FEMA sucks I want the States to run emergencies not the federal government" [MAGA CHEERS!]

Today: "I am declaring an emergency in CA that the federal government will run!" [MAGA CHEERS!]

I mean... I legitimately am at a loss for the ridiculousness.

So, how man innocent humans have to die in fires before we see that Governor Newsome is DIRECTLY responsible for those deaths in these latest fires? He is incompetent and complicit in their deaths.

The President of the United States and the Federal government should take control of the water situation in California because Gavin Newsome has proven over and over again to be a threat to humanity and to those American citizens living in that state.

And the Dems have put several controls on money sent to other states after disasters, so this would be nothing new.

Gavin Newsome and the Dems in California are NOT getting that check free and clear, with no oversight, to do with as they please. Supremacy clause...

LOLOL. We just honestly couldn't make this stuff up.

Is this what's spreading in the right-wing fake-media hate-o-sphere? Is this a preview of the next Bo Snerdley article everyone ignores? Will kill Newsom be next?

I mean.... I guess if Rapey Don, who knows absolutely NOTHING about it, said Newsom mismanaged the water .... then that settles it.

A case could be made for Newsome's arrest in connection with these deaths. If I were any of those people responsible for these deaths, I would let Trump and his team take over the water situation in California and do what he wants before he gets other ideas about who is to blame for those deaths.

Who knew Governor Newsome could control the weather? He should have stopped the Santa Ana winds by Thanksgiving and not allow the dry, windy season to persist into January! Guess the Ds didn't allow him access to the Jewish Space Lasers?!?

    Trump:
“You have millions of gallons of water pouring down from the north with the snow caps in Canada and all pouring down and they have essentially a very large faucet…..and you turn the faucet, and it takes one day to turn, and it’s massive … and you turn that, and all of that water goes aimlessly into the Pacific. And if you turned it back, all of that water would come right down here and right into Los Angeles.”

The Canadian Press quickly ranked the claim as false. “There’s no giant faucets here,” a civil engineer told the news agency. “I don’t really understand what he’s saying.”

California doesn’t get water from Canada, or anywhere close. In fact, much of the state’s water comes from the Sierra Nevada mountains.”

Are you aware that water supply pipes can only deliver so many gpms and pressure depending on the size of the pipes and pumps. Drive around town and you will see hydrants with different colored tops, yellow, green, blue, red, and occasionally orange. Those colors tell you how much gpm of water each hydrant can flow. Every one of them are limited and cannot supply more water than their rating. Without digging up all the pipes and replacing with larger diameter, larger gpm rated hydrants, and replacing current pumps with larger gpm and pressure capacity no more water will help.

Every city in the US has the same set up.

Now are some outdated and in need of upgrades?, sure, but that’s an issue throughout the US.

Those fires, due to the winds were not able to be controlled once they got going.

Reservoirs have capacities. Keep pumping water into them when they are at 100% capacity and that water spills out. LAFD had three resevoirs at full capacity when the fires broke out. The fourth was drained due to regular maintenance. Something any man made structure that is 70 years old will require from time to time.

    Dumb
Just dumb. Are there some serious mismanagement issues in California? Yes. Is the fire chief grossly incompetent? Yes. Is this EO by Trump fixing anything? No. Not at all .just a waste of time and ink.

Newsom doesn't control water supply allocations in California any more than the Orange Skidmark does. The state operates under a set of laws and regulations that have been in place for over 100 years. The federal government has no ability to step in and take over. Read U.S. v. New Mexico 438 U.S. 696 and California v. United States 438 U.S. 645.

Respectfully, you have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to California water law.

Well, it does help to have water to fight the fires. The water is available, and it could easily be abundant. No water at the fire hydrants. No water in the homes for their home sprinkler systems to fight the fire. No water at the hose bibs on the outside of the home.

Water could have saved many homes. I understand that you are in a 24 hr, continuous meltdown over all things Trump. How could bringing water to LA and surrounding areas be so controversial?

We know the details of the fires. It's fire season. They knew a week in advance that strong winds would be troublesome. There is excessive deadwood everywhere to fuel fires. There is a lack of fire breaks throughout the area.

Why would the California government be so lax? This is a great article that explains the mismanagement.
