Their phones, email access, and facility entrance authorizations were terminated that night. No time to clear out offices of personal belongings or instruction on how to get their stuff back.

Everything going on in America's burgeoning autocracy is really funny. Listen to the sycophant Graham, for example. Trump "technically broke the law, but he has the power to do so." IOW he's above the law. LOL, as we didn't already know it. The four indictments? Forget it! The penalties for one conviction? Nothing! What's Trump doing now? Firing all the DOJ prosecutors who tried to make his pay for his crimes. The nerve of those people! This is all so funny.

another IG that was investigating Musk was of course one of the IG's illegally terminated and she was escorted out of her office today when she refused to quit working.

is that what you voted for MAGA. favors for Elon? no oversight for the corruption to come?

not like food and drug safety isn't important. no worries, a tiktok trained devout cultist will be along to make sure the birdflu doesn't get any worse and musk's neuorlink investigation gets dropped. how dare anyone question elmo

22 years in the IG office, chairperson of the IG group for 6 years, obviously a DEI underqualified partisan non productive employee...oopps fogot, national emergency..got to put that somewhere in every justification

USDA inspector general escorted out of her office after defying White House

WASHINGTON, Jan 29 (Reuters) - Security agents escorted the inspector general of the U.S. Department of Agriculture out of her office on Monday after she refused to comply with her firing by the Trump administration, sources familiar with the matter told Reuters.

Phyllis Fong, a 22-year veteran of the department, had earlier told colleagues that she intended to stay after the White House terminated her Friday, saying that she didn’t believe the administration had followed proper protocols, the sources said. In an email to colleagues on Saturday, reviewed by Reuters, she said the independent Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency “has taken the position that these termination notices do not comply with the requirements set out in law and therefore are not effective at this time.”
    ...........................................
The USDA inspector general has a broad mandate, pursuing consumer food safety, audits and investigations of the Agriculture Department as well as violations of animal welfare laws. The USDA has been at the heart of concerns about bird flu, which has spread among cattle and chickens and killed a person in Louisiana.
    ..........................................
In 2022, the inspector general’s office launched an investigation of Elon Musk’s brain implant startup Neuralink, which remains ongoing, sources said. In recent years, the office has also taken on animal abuse at dog breeders for research labs and the listeria outbreak at Boar’s Head, among other issues.
    ................
The dismissals, handed out less than a week after Trump took office for his second term, appeared to violate federal law, the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency said in a letter to the White House on Friday. Fong served as the first chairperson of CIGIE from 2008 through 2014, according to her biography on USDA’s website.

it just keeps getting worse. who can do what to stop this militaristic purge of the key government officials responsible for oversight and justice? department heads fired to prevent Musk fines. People fired for doing their jobs independent of partisanship? How much is too much?

Senior FBI leaders ordered to retire, resign or be fired by Monday | CNN Politics

At least six senior FBI leaders have been ordered to retire, resign or be fired by Monday, according to sources briefed on the matter, extending a purge that began last week at the Justice Department across the street from the FBI headquarters.

The senior officials are at the executive assistant director level or special agent in charge level and include those who oversee cyber, national security and criminal investigations, the sources told CNN. Some were notified while Kash Patel, President Donald Trump’s pick to lead the agency, sat answering questions from senators for his confirmation hearing Thursday.

Trump transition officials in recent months have signaled plans to push aside leaders promoted by former FBI Director Christopher Wray. The leadership changes have drawn internal consternation, in part because these officials didn’t have anything to do with prosecutions of Donald Trump, which have been the focus of the president’s ire.

The personnel moves come as hundreds of FBI agents who were assigned to investigate the January 6 US Capitol attack and Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified documents are bracing for the possibility that they could be forced out or punished, similar to what has happened to dozens of career Justice Department lawyers.

He promised retribution ("I am your justice. I am your retribution"), and that's what he's doing. Why should anyone be surprised or concerned? The American people voted for it.

This happens every day in business, athletics, sports franchises college and pro. Basically any organization. Trump campaigned on this specifically and received 312 electoral votes. None of these moves are a surprise to anyone other than those who are just now getting past the denial stage in grief and on to anger/lashing out

Although, of course, these enterprises that promote, hire and fire solely based on sycophantic loyalty soon suffer at the bottom line, or go out of business.

But Trump doesn't really care about America.

this doesn't happen with every transition. this is targeted to get rid of anyone they don't want and instill loyalist that will do as told regardless of the law confident that a pardon from a supreme being is assured if something goes south.

people don't throw away careers if they are asked to do something that is normal..

FBI official Trump tapped as acting director refusing to approve his mass firings: report - Alternet.org

President Donald Trump is now aiming to purge the FBI of hundreds of agents who helped investigate him and participants in the January 6, 2021 insurrection. But the man Trump temporarily put in charge of the FBI reportedly isn't going along with his plan.

The Washington Post reported Friday that Trump's proposed mass firings ran into a roadblock in the form of Brian Driscoll, who "refused to endorse the effort," according to the Post's sources. The initiative to identify and fire the agents in question is reportedly being headed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the White House, though Trump is apparently distancing himself from the effort.
    ...........................................
Firing FBI agents is a lengthy process, as the bureau allows agents the ability to appeal any termination in two different stages, and entitles them to have a written justification outlining what rules or standards they've been accused of violating. Replacing those agents will also be difficult, as FBI agents have to undergo an intense 18-week training program before being deployed in the field. And any investigations the fired agents were working on will be sidelined until their replacements can be trained and briefed.
    ...........................................................
“What this administration is doing is they are acting so recklessly and with disregard to any laws or norms, they are making a ton of errors in order to satisfy their outspoken base that seek retribution,” he said. “And they are creating a lot of legal claims.”
