tiktok has changed their search engine in the US and Canada to eliminate negative references to donny boy. his poor little fragile ego can't handle it.

if anyone doubted why tiktok should be banned, here it is. manipulate the algorithm to pander for political favor. same as X. misinformation shaping public opinion to drive policies that will not benefit the public..

TikTok is back, but users sound alarm on a startling change

However, since the app has been reinstated, TikTok users have reported a troubling trend, one that raises questions about the platform’s future plans. Yesterday, one X user who goes by the name Karl Max, shared a post consisting of two TikTok screenshots of the same search: “Donald Trump rigged election.”

The photos showed that one search, allegedly made by a phone in the U.S., revealed that TikTok did not provide any search results. By contrast, the photo next to it, allegedly made by a UK phone, showed multiple results for the same search. Commenters on the post have claimed that TikTok users based in Canada are also unable to see results after entering the same search terms, while others responded to confirm that it still works in the UK. A quick search from a U.S. account demonstrates that the more general term ‘rigged election’ turns up no results on TikTok, even if Trump is not mentioned.
    .....................

A popular account called Truth Matters, highlighted further allegations of anti-Trump content being censored, stating “Resistors are getting content pulled down and the algorithm seems alive to anything overtly anti Trump.”
Craig Albert, Graduate Director, Intelligence and Security Studies at Augusta University, spoke to TheStreet about what this type of action from TikTok could mean.

“It is very concerning that TikTok is blocking any type of searches, especially those that are confrontational towards President Trump,” he states. “If you combine this with the message users got from the app once it restarted, basically thanking Trump, it shows a problematic connection for security scholars between TikTok, and possibly Bytedance and China.”

I posted about this in the Tik Tok thread ... they are now blocking anti Trump search terms in North America (but they still get results elsewhere)... it has be a move under the well understood principal of, "If you say nice things about the president, he'll ignore the law to do you favors".

Why am I not surprised? It's an implicit quid pro quo between Donny and Byte Dance. In exchange for disallowing derogatory search results Trump will continue to defer implementation of the legislation banning the platform.

One of the most interesting things about this to me is that :

REPUBLICANS AND TRUMP SUPPORTERS DON'T CARE!!

It's as simple as that. They don't give a shit.

So a US President apparently has a flagrant and criminal quid pro quo with one of the largest media sites in the world, in order to literally further false narratives? One would think that this is literally about as unacceptable a situation as possible. But they don't care.

There is apparently no criminality that Republicans and Trump supporters won't accept. (Or maybe we just haven't found it yet.)

Instagram also seems to have made some changes.

While I have no real desire to see TikTok stick around, the sudden concern about what you see on social media being manipulated for political reasons is, let’s say, entertaining.

I wasn’t talking about misinformation. I was sarcastically noting that major social media networks suppressing content that is unfavorable to their favored politicians is nothing new, the only new thing is the favored politician being a Republican.

Folks on the right have been complaining for years about social media making posts unfavorable to Democrats (including at times entire actual news stories) disappear - heck, it was half of Elon’s explanation for why he was buying Twitter.

See post above. Was having a chuckle at Democrat supporters suddenly being concerned that social media networks are hiding unfavorable political stories.

The left complaining about social media and misinformation is so ironic. Did you read that on Hunter Biden's laptop in 2016? Oh wait you couldn't have because social media suppressed that story.

You mean the one where the Russian misinformation campaign got a maga house to appoint a maga investigator and the only crime found was the Russian misinformation?

No, the one where social media sites blocked links to reporting on the laptop because of supposed concerns the laptop itself might supposedly be Russian disinformation, no evidence to suggest that the laptop was Russian disinformation ever came forth, and then federal prosecutors ultimately wound up calling an FBI agent to testify that the very same laptop was authentic and using emails from it as proof of Hunter Biden’s drug use in their successful prosecution of him on gun charges that his dad later pardoned him of. That laptop.

I don’t blame TikTok. They are fighting for their lives. If sucking up to Donnie works for them then it’s a tactic.

You have put that on my posts before. Here is the format. People put their comments above the link… and the information under the link is from the link. The …… break in the middle means he skipped some paragraphs in the quote. Glad to help.

    To be fair though.....

....if Trump, Republicans, and the right don't want to risk having important stories to them be viewed by a concerned media as possible Russian disinformation.....

.....then they shouldn't either collude with Russia, or welcome Russian disinformation.

Or both, as the Trump campaign did.*

    * If your memory slips, or you disagree, please look up Senate Intelligence Committee findings on Trump campaign collusion with Russia, in order to remember that Republican Senators consider that to be fact.
