Smartphone use leads to hallucinations, detachment from reality, aggression in teens as young as 13: Study Smartphone use leads to hallucinations, aggression in teens: Study
I spent some time in the pool hall when I was a kid. I never hallucinated or became aggressive as a kid, but I was behind the eight ball a lot.
Or like the GOP's Josh Hawley gave a big thumbs up to the J6 mob, then ran for his life when they got into the building.
That's what generates $$$ so that's what you'll get, whether you like it or not. Hey, someone's got to look out for poor Zuck and his quarterly reports to investors.
But there was no evidence to back those claims up. This is on Social Media and there is more and more every day. And it 'ain't good! Go look at some of Jonathan Height's work on this. Specifically, the spike in teenage suicide among girls post 2013 (when smart phones became ubiquitous). HOCKEY STICK! But, nah, nothing to worry about here. Just the old folks being cranky. Zuck and his investors love you and are banking on this lame narrative to keep the profits rolling in.
Oh, you got trouble with a capital T and that ends with P and that stands for TRUMP. Sorry about making the thread about Trump, I've just been waiting to do that.
Trump's no worry. He's bought and paid for by China/TicTok. Just sign the check and the policy is yours. There you go liberals, the solution is as simple as good fundraising.
I'm sure that's a part of it, but the cell phone issue for youth likely extends beyond social media. This report appears to be based on survey data. Results from empirical studies will be more compelling, but the addiction aspect has merit. The research will be emerging now, as there has been enough time to collect longitudinal data & replicate studies for the sake of validity. Several years ago I observed a student teacher in a HS band class. Affluent suburban setting. Class policy was that students could view their cell phones while not playing their instrument. Like clockwork, when the teacher worked with one section all the other students picked up their phones. It was like zombie behavior and nothing I'd seen before. Now that's one anecdote and a reflection of a failed school/class policy, but suggests something about the addictive and counter-productive nature of cell phone use among adolescents.
