He was the first one. I doubt anyone else gets 99-0 though.

my 90 year old father would be a better mod than what we have been getting. But the people have spoken so a thread for each it is.

Exactly. Rubio will be put on blast for saying anything before Trump. Rubio just hit his political ceiling.

He wants his daughter in law in Rubio's Senate seat so he will gleefully humiliate Rubio as soon as that is accomplished.

The AG of Florida Moody has already been named to that seat.

I think the stark contrast with the rest of the nominees probably helped here. Like, let's just get this easy one off the table right away.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the SOS also 4th in line to be President, behind the VP, Speaker, and Senate President?

VP is first in line... Then the Speaker of the House is second in line, and I think the SOS is third?

The president of the Senate is the Vice President, and he is first in line.

The order of succession to the presidency of the United States is as follows: Vice President, Speaker of the House, President Pro Tempore of the Senate, Secretary of State, Secretary of the Treasury, Secretary of Defense, and then the other Cabinet members in the order their departments were created. This order is established by the Presidential Succession Act of 1947.

Ah, just looked it up. Ford was appointed VP after Agnew resigned. I thought it was a direct succession. I was also 9-10yo at the time.

I think Ford was the House minority leader when he was appointed VP. I doubt either Ford or Nixon thought Nixon would resign. Ford had to be approved by the Senate.

I guess Senators think Cabinet appointments are better than being in the Senate. At best, Rubio gets 4 years as SOS but he could have stayed in the Senate for a long time.
