I’m intrigued to know the answer to that myself. According to the Playoff Committee, those were the top 12 teams.

Don’t think I’ve ever been so, meh, about college football. Congrats, Buckyes, for crapping the bed yet again against Michigan and winning a title in maybe the most boring way possible.

I take it back..the Bama/LSU suckfest was worse.

All-time college football National Championship winners:

    #7. OHIO STATE, (9 Natty's)

    Championships: 1942, 1954, 1957, 1961, 1968, 1970, 2002, 2014, 2024

In 1942, Ohio State won its first national championship despite the fact that 22 veteran players left the team to serve in World War II and the roster was mostly made up of sophomores. Like Oklahoma, all of Ohio State's national titles have been during the poll era. The Buckeyes have the second-most wins in NCAA history, and they won their most recent title in the 2024-25 season, defeating Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff National Championship game.

First ever Natty for coach Ryan Day.

Who has won the most college football championships?

The Irish have one 5 star on their roster. The Buckeyes have 14. In the end talent won out. Back to back titles for the Big 10. I was just happy UGA didn't win.

That was unbearable to watch with Kirkstreit calling the game. I like him usually, but hate when he calls Ohio in big games.

Strength of schedule needs to be factored into the teams chosen and also their rankings imho...

Woke up and forgot to watch the game on on-demand this morning. Found out the score.

I truly don't care. Major college football is going the way of the NBA: sort of tuned in but not really. It is what it is.

I wholeheartedly agree that SOS should be factored into teams chosen, but unfortunately, some of the best teams, including the two in last nights championship game, have pretty vanilla schedules.
I think more teams will ease up on the strength of their OOC schedules now because of the larger conferences. Also think more traditional rivalry games will be lost.
If SEC and Big Ten made their conference schedules every two years factoring in the projected strength of their teams and schedule accordingly teams like Ohio State could have had a more competitive schedule. But there are obviously flaws in that theory.

Truth told, I've only ever cared if the Gators are in it, or another otherwise compelling match up--like when USC was great, and Vince Young was at Texas... a smattering of other games here and there. But pretty much any natty w Bama, UGA or Clemson in it, i don't usually bother tuning in.

    Fwiw
