By: Eric Fawcett -- January 19, 2025 When it comes to knowing which players on a team are most impactful you can take a look at stats, talk to fans who love the team, or tap in to a broadcast to see the way that media evaluates things. Those are all great, but if you really want to know which players are most impactful, hearing what other coaches in the league have to say has to be the most informative. Of course this isn’t an avenue most people have, but that’s why it’s notable when I am talking to opposing coaches and regularly hear the same names coming up with who they find to be Florida’s most impactful players. I think 1 more year of development around the rim and yes a consistent jump-shot and he could go 1st round after his junior season. I'd hate to lose him after this season, he needs another season to develop and polish his game but you can tell he has the potential to be a solid NBA player
We'll be sweating out his evaluation period this spring. What kinda grade does he get? How much does he love college? What's his NIL? The future is bright for the young man. Id love to think we're a part of it for another season, but it will be what it'll be...
What I've read is that scouts say he needs to get stronger. I believe he'll continue to improve his consistency through the rest of this season, put on 10 to 15 pounds of muscle in the offseason, and come back as a walking double-double next season.
It’s interesting because i think we all thought he’d put on more size this offseason but he came back leaner than we thought. I think being lean helps his activity on the offensive glass and lateral movement guarding smaller guys on defense as a PF, but i can also see how an extra 10-15 pounds of muscle would help in the post..as long as he doesnt lose any of his mobility and high motor
Sometimes extra weight doesn't help a hoopster. But a little more weight on Alex will help him against the more physical post players, particularly on defense, but we certainly don't want it to limit his athleticism.
Agreed. I don't see him weighing 10-12 pounds more next season. That's a lot for a guy to put on that's doing a ton of cardio already, burning thousands of calories on the daily. It takes lots food and lots of rest to put on muscle. But strength and some bulk wouldn't hurt. Squats and deads will be key for him standing ground better.
He needs to bulk up like another great Aussie big man, Steven Adams. Ever seen pictures of him from when he was drafted. Maybe 20 lbs heavier than Condon is right now. One more year!
Will he be our starting Center, Forward or backup center? We'll be a lot more talented next year on the front line, something is going to give.
I'd imagine Chins and Handles rotating the 5, so Condo would be perma-4 next year w/ Haugh and Alexis grabbing minutes there as well.
He should stay in college another year so that he can work on his English. It's disadvantageous to not be able to speak the language.
we need the guy in your photo to put him on his diet, he looks like he knows how to pack on some extra pounds
how dare you - Steve Adams is a Kiwi But yeah, Steve Adams is arguably the strongest guy in the NBA. He has 17 siblings (5 different mothers, same father), all his brothers are at least 6'10. Imagine feeding that family.
It's going to be an incredibly deep front court if he sticks around. I stiil think Haugh has the speed and agility to play some at the 3, but either way there's going to be a lot of guys that deserve to start. And who knows what kind of development we see from Mikic and Rioux to add to that incredible depth and demand for minutes
In the last three wins (SEC-play) against Texas, Arkansas and #1 Tennessee, Alex Condon had three double-doubles in scoring & rebound along with 3-4 assists. Alex Condon 2024-25 Stats per Game - NCAAM - ESPN Condon's play is similar to Collin Castleton when he was at Florida; although, he isn't as prolific of a shot blocker as Castleton. The combination of both Chinyelu and Condon in the front-court has been very effective for the Gators. In SEC play, Rueben C. had one double-double in the loss to Missouri. I agree on Haugh and think he'll have to spend some time there due to the depth (assuming everyone is back). I'd love to see Mikic turn into something. Olivier, too. But I think we'll see someone depart.
