#4 in ESPN Power Rankings Men's Basketball Power Rankings: How far does Tennessee fall after historic loss?
What a lead: "Tuesday night brought the most eye-popping result of the 2024-25 men's basketball season: Florida 73, Tennessee 43."
If not for their pesky 15-9 run to close the game. Had them 64-28 with less than 6 mins left. 7 FGs in 34 minutes. An absolute annihilation
Didn't pass anyone of note after beating the #1 team like a drum. Time to play the "disrespect" card for a while.
Here is a head scratcher. Last week Dave Preston had us at #5 for the highest ranking of any AP voter. After we DESTROYED #1 UT and won on the road at Arky he drops us to #8 on his ballot. He and one other guy had us the lowest of all the voters. Just weird.
I was thinking more like drunk voting. Coaches polls are historically funny. Many times in olden days it is an intern/assistant that makes the votes because the coach cannot be bothered.
Regarding the #1 ranking, I told an Auburn fan/friend: "We don't want it!" ...at least not until the NCAA Tourney is over. I happened to catch some of the Iowa State game last Saturday, and my strongest impression was that they have some players who are good, smart passers. Specifically, a couple of their guards. I don't watch a lot of games besides Gator games, but I'll be interested in catching some more of their games.
Gators still #5 after splitting games last week. Mizzou way behind at 22. Why they sleeping on Mizzou? They're a really good team.
