I guess we have to suffer a murdered/raped family member to feel "invaded" in your estimation? Yeah, those people invaded our country, and they are going back.

Why is keeping them so important to you? Do you feel safer with them here?

Statistics prove that they do not commit crime more than citizens.

And appx 8-9 million hold jobs. So if they were all deported, the economy would greatly suffer and inflation would certainly skyrocket.

This begs the question : "How does the US economy perform in the absence of those workers?"

Do YOU have a possible answer for that?

Also; is it considered a group insult to say that around here it sometimes feels like one is debating with children?

Although Trump and Homan claim that the initial raids were be targeting criminal undocumented immigrants I'm willing to wager that the overwhelming majority of immigrants apprehended in the initial raids will be immigrants who are easy to locate because they've been reporting regularly to ICE and have committed no crimes with the exception being in the US illegally and maybe minor misdemeanors and traffic violations.

My personal feeling of safety is in no way affected by the presence of undocumented immigrants.

Well good for you, but a lot of people, including the majority of the electorate disagree with you. I flat out will feel more secure and safe when many of the illegal immigrants, especially the ones who are violent criminals (as all illegal immigrants are by definition criminals), are gone and out of the U.S.

I absolutely believe that illegal immigration is the greatest current threat to the national security of the United States.

In modern times, you have to have a border to protect yourself. Back in the 1700s, 1800s, early 1900s, the world was much bigger due to the lack of ability to travel. Due to that, the Atlantic Ocean and Pacific Ocean served as natural borders to a large extent.

It is important to note that, even in the midst of the immigration from Europe in the late 19th Century and early 20th Century, the immigration was a fraction of what we face yearly today.

The world is smaller today, and we don't have the benefit of the Atlantic Ocean and Pacific Ocean providing a natural barrier anymore. Immigrants, including terrorists who can imbed themselves into immigrant groups, can get to the U.S. much easier than before.

    Here are my immigration points:

1.) Immediately start deportation process of illegal immigrants who have committed crimes, have a criminal history or have ties to a terrorist organization. Create a three strikes policy. The third time you enter the U.S. illegally, you are jailed for the rest of your life.

2.) Complete the wall at the southern border. Electrify the top of the wall to prevent illegal immigrants from climbing over the wall. Build the wall into the ground to the point where it's difficult if not impossible to tunnel below the wall.

3.) Temporarily shut down all immigration to redo our immigration system. Simplify the immigration system. Start the immigration process at the U.S. Embassy of the immigrant's home country. The immigrant fills out the needed paperwork and passes a thorough background check. Once all legal immigrant applications have been processed, resume asylum applications. All immigrants who go to the U.S. border are turned away during this time.

4.) Implement the "Remain in Mexico" policy. Once Step 3 is complete, work with Mexico to stop illegal immigration at their southern Mexico border, with the understanding that, if illegal immigrants get to the southern U.S. border, they will remain in Mexico until their asylum hearing. Work with Mexico to set up mass temporary facilities. Hire more judges to process cases quicker, with the understanding that illegal immigrants are not granted entry into the U.S. until their asylum is approved. Provide clear guidance that asylum is only granted for immigrants who are suffering from political or ethnic discrimination in their home country. "My country is a third world country" will no longer be valid for asylum. If their asylum is denied, they must leave the temporary facilities immediately. Implement a minimum 6 month wait for an asylum hearing to encourage immigrants to go through the legal process at the U.S. Embassy of their home country.

5.) Immigrants who are in the U.S. illegally, but have not committed any crimes, have a criminal history or are part of any terrorist group, are deported and sent to the back of the line. They will then be able to reapply to immigrate to the U.S. at the U.S. Embassy of their home country. The other options for the immigrant would be the following:
    - Each adult member of the family does a minimum of 5 years of military service, with the understanding that if the U.S. goes to war, they will be on the front lines.
    - They will be required to pay taxes for every year they were here and did not file, including an additional $10,000 penalty per immigrant as a one time penalty.

6.) Mandatory E-Verify Nationwide. Make it impossible to get employment in the U.S. as an illegal immigrant. Penalize the Company $100,000 for each illegal immigrant they are caught employing. If caught employing 50 or more illegal immigrants, the entire Executive team of the Company is jailed for 2 years.

7.) Limit the amount of foreign students at U.S. Universities. For far too long we have been educating kids of adversarial countries. Continue to allow foreign students from Europe, Central America, South America, Australia, New Zealand, Israel Japan, South Korea, Canada and Mexico. Do not allow foreign students from the Middle East (outside of Israel), Russia, China or India as they are natural security and economic threats to Americans. Set a date for each university at the end of each academic year for foreign students to be accounted for and sent to the airport for departure. Require foreign students to provide an outbound flight or itinerary at least one month prior to the end of the academic year. This prevents students from overstaying their visas. If a foreign student overstays their visa, they are no longer allowed to attend an American university and are immediately deported.

8.) Limit Legal Immigration and Asylum to 500,000 immigrants a year. Additional immigrants can be allowed through guest worker programs.

9.) For Guest Worker programs, require payment for their final two weeks to be issued in person. That way ICE officials can be present to transport them back to the border or to the airport for departing flights. If a Guest Worker violates this, they are banned from entering the U.S. for the rest of their life and are immediately deported. If they enter illegally, they are put behind jail for the rest of their life.

This is how I want to see Trump handle immigration. Hopefully all of these, but at least some of these. I think all of my steps are very achievable and appropriate.

Completely ridiculous. But really curious about one point. How do you generate enough electricity to keep the 2000 mile wall buzzing 24X7 365?

    Where did I misquote you?
In post 956, you said, “My bet is the total number of illegals in the US is closer to 50 million.”

And, to be sure, Trump told us during the campaign the number was 30 million.

I know you desperately want to act like being in the U.S. illegally is no big deal, but for a lot of us it is a big deal. For a lot of us, it's one of the biggest crimes you can commit.

How would Costa Rica like it if a lot of us white people just decided to go to Costa Rica and never leave? Or if a lot of us Americans decided we're going to go to Italy and never leave? What about Japan, get 100,000 of us, going to Japan, and tell them we're staying there permanently.

Is that going to be okay by your standard?

People being in another country illegally should never be normalized.

For those people who are on Social Security, you'd better hope that Trump is NOT successful eliminating all of the immigration from our southern border. One of the effects of getting rid of immigration is that the U.S. population will begin to shrink, and the number of workers who are paying into Social Security will decline. If Social Security runs out of money, so will you, if you are relying on it.

Has Congress Stolen Trillions From Social Security? The Answer Is Clear as Day.

ICE did a raid in the Central Valley, CA fields about two weeks ago. And now, with Trump sworn in, workers are scared to show up for work. This is a critical time for citrus harvesting. Estimated about 50% of the workers aren't showing up. This will certainly bring grocery prices down!

About 25% of the US supply of fresh fruits and nuts are grown in the Central Valley, including about 40% of all citrus.

    Wow!!!!!!!!!!! That is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At this pace, ICE will "pick up" 109,500 per year, or a grand total of.......... 438,000 during the entirety of the Trump Administration.

So in other words, the total failure has already begun. And Bill is cheering.

(Who said this was all just a con job for gullible people that believe Trump's lies?)

I'm honestly a bit surprised that it was that low. I would have thought that they could spike the numbers for a couple of days for PR purposes. Instead, they are way under normal pace and having to rely on people having no idea how this works to not understand what they just read.

"During Fiscal Year 2023, 273,220 people were booked into ICE custody" Wow.... that averages to about 743 per day last year. Wonder why some are enthused by picking up half the average? LOL
Just can't make this up.... does Homan do math?
