jesus man, this is a broken record, the team is better now then last year and the year before...records can be misleading. The bad part of this is the leagues other teams have made more of a jump then we have. Especially Vandy and Kentucky..the Mississippi schools also. Look I think she has to make the jump next year...but nothing happening this year so dont even think about it unless KRF leaves after her baby is born or something
yeah I am going to disagree with you on how the game was officiated, after I got back to my hotel room watched it over from the TV perspective instead of watching it live in person where yo can miss stuff. It was very poorly officiated but that is what you expect in the league. Mulkey works the refs and it always helps. All the moving screen calls were bogus since LSU was doing worse and Morrow pushing in the back constantly(wish we would have gotten her) The 4 calls on Laila for shuffling her feet..1 might have been a shuffle..the other 3 were LSU guards pushing her in the lower back and trying to knock her off balance. Also all of those calls were made by the same exact ref(the guy) which several of us gave him a piece of our mind after the game. Example also, in 4th quarter we are in the middle of an offensive set and the ref under the basket just stops play when McGill was about to make an entry pass. Then after no real explanation she says ok lets play on..but didnt reset the clock, I thought I would hear an explanation on tv but nothing. Even the play by play was bumfuzzled. That all being said I do not think we would have won, but it would have been much more interesting. As you said the next 4 games are very important for us, if we somehow go on a streak then we can finish the league with maybe a 8-8 record and that would probably put us on the bubble.
It's not always bad officiating is all I can say. We can blame the officials every game or we can self reflect and get better.
Now I stated I didnt think we would have won no matter what..I just stated it was poorly officiated and gave some examples
And couldn't it be some of both? Including players not executing plays properly ? I sure players aren't coached to turn the ball over or miss shots..
The buck stops here should be the mantra of a coach. If your team is consistently doing the same bad things, it's on you as the coach. Any coach that blames players for repeated failures wouldn't be much of a coach.
I didn't say coach blamed her players..just that some blame can be assessed to refs, coaches AND players not executing. I taught for many years, sometimes you can explain, practice and teach and go over things..kids sometimes still make errors...didn't mean I was a poor teacher.. Common theme I see on message boards..total blame on the coach, fire the coach..I believe ( my opinion, that I am allowed to express, just as you are) coaches do share some blame, but so do players..and refs can change outcomes of games...like the 2 pointer counted as a 3 in the men's game..that inspite of our players poor play..could have made a difference in the outcome of that game..a call here or there can change how a player plays too Let's agree to disagree and move on.
Agreed. It can definitely be all three. There is just a tendency here to blame refs every game, and it's just not reality. I just feel like consistent poor performance over years is on coaching more than on the players.
I hear you..but I read that no matter what sport lol..even gymnastics..judges graded too high or too low..umps called a tighter strike zone, blah ,blah, blah lol Part of being a fan
Liv is somebody to build around; she's a treat to watch. Great intensity early, too loose with the basketball, some of those will go down as bad passes from Liv, but the athleticism on the other end isn't where it needs to be. Definitely an imbalance in fouls called, and no, not the reason we lost, but amplifies the scoreboard for sure. I don't get how there are so many LSU women's basketball fans. I'm assuming these aren't folks that traveled with the team from Louisiana. I've never seen LSU baseball fans take over the Mac or Condron the way they showed yesterday, one of the worst showings I've ever seen by LSU for a football game in 20+ years...but they were passionate yesterday in the O'DOME. Are these somewhat local folks who just decided to root for LSU because they are good? Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
Yes, LSU picked up a lot of bandwagon fans because of Angel Reese and Flaujae Johnson, plus the SEC Network's love fest for Kim Mulkey doesn't hurt either. Flaujae Johnson is from Miami as well.
we have had turnover problems since Peck was coach No one blamed the loss on the refs, show me where I typed that.
