A frail Trump moves inauguration indoors

Concerned over a small turnout for his inauguration a frail Trump is moving indoors and blaming the cold. The last old and frail president, Reagan, on his ‘85 reelection, was the last indoor inauguration.

Obama did his in 28 degree weather. JFK 22 degrees and snow. But of course those two were young and Reagan and Trump old.

It will definitely be cold, but seemingly there is a high correlation with a president’s age and weather to move indoors for cold. I hope Trump is up to the task. He has a lot of promises to keep but this is a bad start.

Donald Trump Wusses Out Of Outdoor Inauguration

Raw Story notes that hotel occupancy rates in Washington D.C. - just over 70% three days before the inauguration – do not point to a sellout crowd on inauguration day. Raw Story reports in a separate article, “According to MSNBC's Chris Jansing, the expected weather on Monday will actually be warmer than MAGA fans have experienced at some of his rallies.

The same article quietly reveals that John F. Kennedy was inaugurated outdoors with the same temperature but also with eight inches of snow on the ground. Barack Obama and Jimmy Carter were inaugurated outdoors in 28 degree weather, a barely noticeable difference.

One of my favorite alarm clock messages: 2 degrees, “not as cold”. So glad I’m in Charlotte now.

Who is performing at the Trump 2025 inauguration? Here's the list of tomorrow's singers.

joey showed signs of dementia before the 2020 election and in the 4 years he has been in office his cognitive decline was VERY noticeable

I think the move inside is more about security than the weather and I can't say as I blame him- why give the whacko's an open shot

Temps in the low 20s, gusts into the 30s, wind chill in single digits. The move makes sense.

It's got nothing to do with security. They'd been planning an outdoor inauguration for months. It's because Trump was afraid of the crowd size being too small. At least this time around we won't have to see poor Sean Spicer trying to convince people that it was the biggest crowd ever.

Not defending Trump in anyway, his inauguration was not the first or even second to be moved indoors and the decision probably wasn't even Trump's. These are the others:
    • A blizzard prevented Willam Taft’s 1909 ceremony from being held outside.
    • Ronald Reagan’s second inauguration in 1985 was moved indoors as it was 7 degrees.
    • James Monroe's second inauguration in 1821 was held indoors due to a snowstorm.
    • Andrew Jackson's second inauguration in 1833 was held indoors due to cold temperatures, snowy grounds and Jackson experiencing health issues

I don’t really care where they hold the inauguration and think it’s probably the right call to hold it indoors with the temp/wind combo, but there is zero basis for what you “think.” Trump has been campaigning outdoors behind bulletproof glass, they’ve been planning an outdoor inauguration since he won, he’s said it’s about the weather, and they’ve moved even the parade indoors.

Dude, if there is one thing that this guy can do, it is drawing a large crowd. Stop with this nonsense.

Meh. His age is a real factor.

There is more evidence you’re obsessed with me. Out of my last 20 OPs I started 3 are about Trump. One on his comment about the electoral college. One about the expectations for his second term. And this one.

I agree. His Narcissistic Personality Disorder is probably much more of a factor than Trump's age. He doesn't want to be embarrassed by a relatively small crowd.
