You know the play that I did not like was that attempted high-low play when our guard tries to pass the ball to one of our big men during a transition. Our Center (either Condon or Chineyelu) most often could not catch up to the ball or missed the layup/dunk.

I think Florida only connected on only 1 out of 8 on those allie-oop type plays which is a very low percentage. Those were a lot of missed opportunity possesions by Florida for possibly more points.

Tennessee lost @ Vanderbilt today and Georgia gave Auburn all they could handle. No easy games this year.

Not even something nice? That was a pretty good team the Gators crushed today.

Fun game. All of our front court have higher ceilings and are improving. Chinyelu has even learned how to tip off. I hope we get to see them all return next year.

I Want to see Aberdeen more. I bet Clayton and Martin would benefit.

Will Richard must up his 3 point shooting for us to win some of the tougher games. He’s shooting a 31% clip right now. I would like to see him around 37%. When he’s on we are so much better.

Reading this thread, one would suspect that a) Condon is awful and cheated on every poster's daughter b) the Gators lost by double digits. Meanwhile a) Condon earned MVG for the 3rd straight game and b) the Gators won by more than 20.

Chinyelu getting the tip I even mumbled to my wife, good grief Chin finally got us one. He looked very good on the high low game, even using the glass a few times. Condon is tough but in the first half couldn’t finish, the coaches need to tell him not to dribble slow around the basket then shoot, he gets blocked almost every time. He just needs to move quick whatever he does and learned to use the glass. He is very tough and blocks shots most people couldn’t even get to and has strong hands to get rebounds and loose balls. I feel he needs to get even stronger and that is scary for our opponents, possible gain five to ten more pounds. Stay the summer in Gainseville work on his offensive moves, using the glass and keep getting comfortable shooting threes. One more year of working on these things, he could be a first round draft choice! These two bigs are incredible athletes, another year of SEC games and training would give them a lot of exposure, both could make their families rich and Gator fans like us like proud dads! LOL

I was wondering if Condon was sick prior to him hitting that three. Seemed to flip a switch for him.

...at least on the offensive end.

Seriously, in one recent game, he didn't even bother to jump for the tip, just stood and watched it. I was wondering if the staff had decided we don't need or want the opening possession.

Yeah, Condo played hard all game so he wasn't sick. And he was grabbing every rebound in the first half. He just couldn't seem to finish his first-half shots in the paint, and a couple of them should have been super easy. I think he's in the habit of getting wound up and rushing them. Glad to see he settled down on that end of the court in the 2nd.

He was pretty cold for the first stretch of games, then had a few where he was the best shooter we had. Now he's cooled off again.
Anyway, through all the games so far, he's been very good, even when his shots wouldn't fall. Rebounding, defending, slashing, helping. He'll get back where we want him in the shooting.

I was wondering the same thing. Kind of like deferring to the second half. Problem is with tie up it could result in one less possession

Great analysis. I'm an old fart and have given up on complaining about guys not using the backboard. Spending some time working on that could fix our problems missing layups/lay-ins. I was also happy to see Chinyelu bank a couple of shots. He doesn't have the greatest touch. You don't need great touch to make bank shots.

Richard has always been a streaky 3 point shooter. His attacks to the basket and defense this year have improved noticeably. Really love his reverse layups. Very hard to defend.

He has been money from the block lately. Bank shots are so much harder to block, especially a hook shot.
