Files a frivolous lawsuit, stop me if you've heard this one before, then uses his authority to threaten mereger to force fat settlement for personal gain.

Does MAGA not have a problem with him using the power of the office as leverage for personal gain in frivolous lawsuits against news agencies? Lawsuits that have zero chance in court. Decisions on mergers and fines obviously not being decided on merits.

Musk already angling for dropping the $660k fines and the appointee even committed to reexamining those fines. Will that little explosion that forced airliners to reroute and refuel or assume personal risk of debris damage be forgotten about since it is elon after all?

MAGA - is this what you voted for? get a big fat donation from major investor in bytedance and then change your position on tiktok overnight,it's all for sale baby...is this draining the swamp?

'Bend the knee': CBS considers settling Trump’s '60 Minutes' lawsuit to get merger approved - Alternet.org

President-elect Donald Trump's $10 billion lawsuit against CBS News for alleged "deceptive conduct" may end up with him raking in a significant sum of cash in exchange for the incoming administration green-lighting a proposed merger.

That's according to a Wall Street Journal article published Friday, which reported that executives at the network are mulling whether to offer a settlement to the president-elect as a gesture of goodwill. CBS parent company Paramount is reportedly hoping a settlement will lead to its potential merger with Skydance Media being approved by federal regulators.

"It’s become clear to executives at both companies that Trump’s dissatisfaction with CBS News will make the review tougher than they anticipated, and that they’ll likely need to offer concessions to win approval," wrote the Journal's Jessica Toonkel and Drew FitzGerald, citing "people familiar with the situation."

Trump initially filed the suit just before the November election, arguing that CBS selectively edited Vice President Kamala Harris' interview with 60 Minutes reporter Bill Whitaker. His complaint accused the network of "malicious, deceptive and substantial news distortion calculated to confuse, deceive and mislead the public." Trump declined his own interview with 60 Minutes, even though the program traditionally interviews both major party candidates ahead of each presidential election.

I don’t like how you interviewed my opponent so i’m going to sue but if you settle and pay me money, i’m more likely to allow your merger proposal go through.

trumpy is corrupt to the core - if he had one. Grifting to own the libbies while millions cheer. Hard to find any respect for the (group insult).

Funny to watch MAGA pretend that Trump's not a criminal or un-American, one transgression at a time. (For eight years.) The rest of America is too spineless or ignorant (uh oh, can I say that?!) of what's happening to say a word.

Meanwhile, he uses the authority of the government he attacked as leverage for his grift.

I thought he'd learned his lesson? I thought he'd be better this time?

Actually what he learned is how to more effectively use the government and specifically the power of the presidency to grift. Trump will continue to cement his place as the most corrupt president in history and there isn't even a close second. He has also learned from the two failed attempts during his first term that unlike Richard Nixon who was forced to resign under threat of impeachment and likely removal from office there is no way that there would be a successful bipartisan effort to remove him from office.

Do I have an issue with a Republican Admin giving CBS News a hard time over a clear bias towards Democrats and The Left's outlook on politics that became clear after Tony Dokoupil interview of Ta Nehisi Coates? Nope.

Do I have a problem with Trump personally profiting from it? Yes.

The other thing to keep in mind, ABC just paid out $15M and CNN just got hit with at least $5M yesterday. I'm sure the Paramount legal and finance teams are probably doing some decisions trees to determine what is the cheapest way to get out of this lawsuit and how to do that if they want to keep their merger hopes alive.
