I have been voting for the Hall of Fame since the 2015 election, marking Pedro Martinez and Randy Johnson on my first ballot among eight other names. Each time has been an honor. If I was on the old guy committee I would work hard for both Shoeless Joe Jackson and Pete Rose getting in. No denying how great they were on the field. Jackson didn't throw games in the 1919 World Series but he knew about it. Pete did bet on games that he was involved in as a manager but what he did on the field was amazing.
Dale Murphy had a skill that very few batters had. Yogi had it as well. He was one of the few batters that could actually get around on a high fastball.
