She is a triple Florida graduate and a 5th generation Floridian from Plant City. She seems like a great choice.

I just watched her accepting and she pointed out that she served as a judge, worked as AG, and now in the Senate. So she will have worked in all 3 branches of government, that gives her an interesting perspective.

Election denier who also opposes recreational marijuana and has a history of opposing Florida voters amendments. Nice.

She likes to sue to keep amendments off the ballot because the wording is "unclear." So I'm sure she will be very equitable and open minded.

I assume that there is an understanding that in '26 Moody will run for Governor and DeSantis runs for Senate.

I get the feeling that your theory didn't include Gaetz as governor. You should add it

Florida's constitutional amendment process was waaaaaaayyyy tooo easy before, and lent to some dumb amendments passing bc ppl caught sleeping at wheel, misleading wording, etc.

It's a constitution, not a list of laws. Amending the constitution needs to be an extremely precise deal, not half asses n thrown together on a whim.

There's a process for repealing and amending laws that way more often than not could address issues sought to be changed via constitutional amendment, which ought to be exhausted before mucking with the constitution.

So props to her on that count, rather than shade.

Ashley is a die hard Gator fan and very bright, in my assessment much brighter than Pam Bondi. She comes from a well known family in Hillsborough County, especially in Plant City. She was very thin on experience when she was first elected to the bench, barely meeting the qualifications for the position. She started in juvenile court and was well known for taking numerous breaks during hearings when objections were being made. She'd leave the courtroom and go into her adjoining office to return a few minutes later with a ruling. The common theory was that she was either calling her father, a federal judge, or quickly researching the issue. That is NOT something experienced judges normally do. She was subsequently moved to felony court and I thought was doing well there. She resigned from that position to run for FL AG.

I appeared before her dozens of times when she was a judge. I voted her the first time, but not for reelection. I didn't like many of the positions she took and I don't care for her politics.

This board seems to have made you into a miser.
I recall you posting with more optimism in years past.
It’s a shame to see another decent poster turn to the lib side.

This is why we went to the 60% threshold. Which, no matter what you thought of the outcomes of the last round, is the best way to do it. 50% just creates a tennis match where you can potentially go back and forth every cycle.

If by equitable you mean keep the crazy libbies out of Florida…then yes she’ll be perfect.

She runs for Governor and he runs for Senate?

He seems to have made it clear he didn't want a cabinet position (or would refuse if offered), so I'm guessing he has bigger plans in mind. Get the Senate seat and it's his for life, and he can still mount several POTUS runs if he wants to.

I actually don't disagree with you on any of that. However What she's been doing is not that. She's suing to keep amendments off the ballot based on verbiage and stuff like that. It's just straight voter suppression. She wants to prevent voters from having the opportunity to vote on things she doesn't like
