I’m sure if you took out the first 4 games of the season the numbers wouldn’t look as mediocre. I know a season is still a season but it was humming a bit better after DJ & Baugh settled in.

On short yardage goal-line O, once we get Stephon Shivers, either at running back, blocking back, or tush push pushing back, the ball will get over the goal line. It's going to be fun to see.

You cannot look at those stats in a vacuum. We also had one of the hardest schedules in the country to compete against. Half of our regular season games had defenses ranked in the top 35 of scoring defenses nationally. Three of which were in the top 7. The worst being 35th and giving up 22 ppg. We averaged over 24 ppg against those six top ranked defenses. We scored more points on every one of those six than they gave up on average. A mediocre offense doesn’t score 24 on a defense team that averages giving up 14.4 per game like ours did.

The first half of the season we had a defense that couldn’t get off the field and reduced our offensive possessions. Once our defensive issues were resolved, you saw our offense doing just fine against top ranked defenses. Roll in that for a game and a half, we had a walkon QB and it becomes a little more obvious that our offensive rankings are heavily skewed.

When you look at things like average yards per rush, you’ll find us right there with Oregon, Bama, and UGA; none of which would someone question their ability to run efficiently. Most of the teams that lead in things like rushing per game do not run anything close to a balanced offense.

Intentional game plan, power running, spreading the ball around on offense attacking all three levels. Lags having a 60+ completion %
