I havent watched them enough to know much. Penn st looked to be handling nd with their line in the first half but penn st's line didnt do much in the second half. Texas' line got abused a bit last night but we are talking the last four teams. Thosr last two games , none of the four lines were anle to mandhandle those front sevens except tge first half for Penn st. The qbs arent all that impressive either so im sure its a bit harder to run.
It happens. If it is your contention that our OL staff will develop unheralded recruits to all sec types, okay. I'm not interested enough to review recruiting rankings of the first, second, third team members to see what percentage were lower rated but are showing out in college. Why do that? 2024 All-SEC College Football Team and Individual Honors 2024 All-SEC Football Team Announced - Southeastern Conference I also wouldn't consider Jake a low rated OL. 5 star? No. But not disregarded or overlooked by the services. Jake Slaughter - Florida Gators - Interior Offensive Line
I don't why you'd do that. Did someone ask you to do it? No, it's not not my contention that UFs staff will develop unherald recruits. What's your definition of an "unheralded recruit"? You're not actually basing it strictly off of recruiting rankings, are you?
1. We don't need to have our rbs dive into every pileup on first and second down. 2. Learn to count better. Throw more when the box is stacked and run it more when they are playing more coverage. 3 Pass proficiently using a short quick passing game to offset heavy rush, throw the ball over the heads of defenders playing tight and intermediate routes when that's what's there. 4. Take what the defense gives you and scheme on on a play by play basis. 5. Isolate playmakers in space and get them the ball with one defender to beat. 6. Option routes 7 Exploit blitzes 8. Routes designed to get receivers open. 9. Don't be unwilling to be unbalanced in play calling from time to time. Sometimes you'll run more. Sometimes you'll pass more but overall develop a balance.
What are you talking about; is someone forcing you to post? It's not my fault you made simple-minded comments about the OL.
I am a little surprised that SS didn't bring Napier in and tell him to hire an OC and special team's coach. 4,5,6,7 loss season's is not tolerated here. Hope the line is good enough to push the ball across the goal line once we are inside the opposition 10.
I think if DJ is at 100% physically our red zone offense, inside the 10 yard line particularly, will be much improved.
I'm always advocate of the offensive line being much more important than people give it credit for. As I think about these playoffs, I think about first and goal at the One and not being able to get into the end zone. That to me pretty much says your offensive line is just not good enough. Texas is offensive line may be decent and you can call whatever you want but if you can't get it in the end zone like that, there is need for improvement. Definitely give props to Ohio State front seven as they have been pretty damn good, I'd have to say elite.
Offense that is way more creative in pass game. Uses tempo more. Puts pressure on a D instead of a clock eater just as happy playing field position and complimentary football as they are trying to score. I hear WAY more enthusiasm and depth from CBN about that than ACTUALLY scoring. Very telling. An offense that stops using 2 TEs unless you plan on using them. ZERO reason to have 2 eligible receivers you don’t throw it to. An offense that never ever has a DC talk about us the way Miami’s did. If I were CBN that would burn me up. The idea that “all we gotta do is practice 7-10 plays” is insane to me. An offense that moves up from that dreaded 80-100 range in passing that CBN loves to hover around into 45-50. an offense that uses your talented ass WR room rather than recruit Ferraris and park them in the garage. Mizell is a great example. Dude showed gamebreaker tendencies a few times on plays with penalties away from the play that you never went back to. Drives me nuts. Some level of aggression and dictation. Lastly an offense that utilizes outside zone and runs more than running it up Slaughters butthole 1st, 2nd and hoping Lags will be a hero on 3rd.
I want to see two TE’s with the skills needed for us to spend more time in 12 personnel and DJ to have the aptitude to know when to use them. Our RB room is stacked. DJ is enough of a running threat and deep ball thrower that any play can go run or pass. We have enough OL talent to give us deep shots, and in 12 we should have the horses to chunk run yardage. We only need two TE’s that can effectively block and be pass catching threats. Just my $.02.
1) Fewer 2 TE sets. We leave 4 and 5 star WRs on the bench for 3* TEs that simply don't add much to our offense. 2) That DJ has done A LOT of work in the offseason on his mechanics and footwork. He is blessed with great arm talent, but he seemed to lose his mechanics at end of season and it affected his accuracy, he frequently threw off platform. 3) more QB runs, not a ton but enough to give defenses another thing to think about. 4) Less predictable play calls. I don't know whether it is our formations or the situation, but too many DCs seem to have a pretty good idea what play CBN will call.
A lot of hyperbole going on in this thread. There is certainly room to improve but to imply the offense is inefficient or unproductive is being grossly exaggerated.
Passing offense good. Rushing offense great. https://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/25 https://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/23 RZ offense is the question mark. During the season we had a decent rank but mostly because we scored FGs, which count statistically as a RZ score but need to turn that number into more TDs. An extra 4 points per game is meaningful for that particular stat. An extra 8 pts per game would be huge. For whatever reason, .NCAA stat is only reflecting RZ offense updated January 10th but seems to reflect only bowl season. Odd. https://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/703
I guess its all how you define inefficient or unproductive. UF wasn't in the Top 50 of any major team offensive category, not Total Offense (we were 66th), rushing offense (we were 67th), scoring offense ( we were 64th), Red Zone offense (we were 50th), 3rd down conversion % (we were 92nd). https://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/699/p2 Pretty mediocre if you ask me.
