My logic is if you can't start on a college team you probably can't play on a pro team. Not many backups make it to the NFL
Don’t know why but, your post and you being in Pensacola reminded me of Kay Stephenson. He was Spurrier’s backup. Went on to play, as a backup, for Buffalo and San Diego in the AFL before it merged with NFL, then coached in the NFL. He was a graduate of Pensacola High.
I think it would be logical to run from some stacked rb rooms that don't rotate and aren't fair about talent and team ball. Juluke has shown to be a good evaluator. If he wants me, I want him.
We've had several transfer, but I cannot remember the last all pro running back that transferred from our program
Kay Stephenson, that's a name from the past, I remember when he coached the Bills and had a local radio show we could receive here in Southern Ontario, I listened to it often, he also had some coaching stints in the CFL! I had no idea he was a Gator, he was at UF before I became a fan, the things you learn on this board!
Bama cherry picked him from GT though. Not like he left because of competition. That was my pick for RB back when he came on late in his highschool career and everyone else was fawning over Bowman. Always thought he was the "closest" thing to Percy with his one step cuts, speed and downhill running. Still hate that Bama gets credit for him in the league. He was what he was at GT for 2 years before Bama bought him.
I doubt Barry and Thurman stay together at Oklahoma state if they played today though. Times have changed.
