my son and I were at that game- I was given2 tix to a pregame function sponsored by a local radio station- they were doing a game giveaway- my son got in line- when it was his turn they asked him if he could sing the alma mater- he said no but his Dad could so the radio personality said where is he- I stepped up and took the mic and sang the alma mater- she gave me 2 gift cards to Outback and then said if I could sing the fight song she would give me 2 tickets the the Nascar Truck Race at the Disney Speedway- my wife and I really enjoyed that race.

Just remembered WTARA was the AOL screen name of the other Gator fan who tailgated with me and the 2 Penn State fans. None of us had ever met in person before but had spent numerous hours online arguing football. It was kind of neat to meet up with the opposition before a bowl game.

The Graygator was always in there. BigVolDaddy was in there, too. He was quite the curmudgeon.

Yup I remember Graygator vaguely remember BigVolDaddy. Had some huge fights with the Vols in there. They liked to bring up that Tennessee had an all time winning record against the Gators because they couldn't stand that Spurrier owned them at the time. But it was really fun the way the UF Bama Auburn and Tenn fans would gang up on Big 10 or Notre Dame fans when one would enter the room.

Read my subsequent posts Rick my boy.
It wasnt available like we know of.

Commercial ISP's came long after the military released it and Tandy wasnt one of the very small number of computers that could acces Quantum/AOL in 1989.

It just a conversation point, but my guess is 51 is just off by a couple of years.

    Lol... be nice. :D

I remember getting online about 1991, but that was not a great experience. I'm sure no one knew how complex the internet and updates would be even after we buy new computers. Or when I built my computers.

I remember getting online in 1991, when the modem finally connected in 1992 (after telling my parents they couldnt use the phone the whole time), it opened up new worlds I didnt know existed

I started computing a few years later than most in my cohort. I got my first computer (an IBM) in 1995, while at UF. UF offered free dial-up and I installed the Netscape browser.
I remember that ESPN and The Sporting News had good coverage of Gator sports, so I visited those sites often. I ran across Swampie's Rumor Mill and then Gator Country in early 1997.
