Apparently, rumor has it, Miami just snagged Carson Beck, it's hard to sort through credible news these days, people are hopping around committing and decommitting like nobody's business! And, understandably, the big name QB's are getting some serious jack. Why gamble with going pro? Just enter the portal and get some real folding $. Hopefully, he'll still be wildly inaccurate for the first half and start to figure it out after halftime, after we've pulled way ahead. Go Gators!
Beck has the look of a dork. That must appeal to the Cavinder girl he is dating. That and his fancy car. She is an attractive young girl. I can only hope the shine is coming off Kirby. He wins because he has better players. Not because he is a great game coach.
Is he is an excellent coach? Definitely, yes. Is he also a first class turd? Also affirmative. Has he taken advantage of a toothless NCAA and bent the rules ruthlessly? You bet. He would win at all those schools you list if he had the same "advantages" that Alabama and Georgia so freely gave him. He will continue to win at UGa. However, perhaps not at the clip that he did before everyone else also gained one of the "advantages."
Who would? Many coaches have left for a school they believed they could succeed. Some have not*, some have. I don't know when Smart was mid. At Bama was considered a top DC. Went 8-5 his first year at georgia, then 11-2. Unfortunately, he's done well and not on the hot seat. We hope their QBs next year are not an improvement over Beck. *Makes me laugh at Chip Kelly.
Thanks, and it's not "if" as Moffitt has confirmed it and have already removed a tumor from my leg. Leg Radiation coming up and also going to get that spot out of my lung.
I agree on your observations in general, but I do take issue with the getting ahead of things part. The following items occur to me right off the bat: - Is it too soon to recount the litany of off-field lawlessness and gross irresponsibility on the part of KS & co - and then to point out an obvious decline in the quality of play/team culture as a very possible consequence? - Does citing a disappointing season, "highlighted" by an anemic performance against a less talented team in the POs, constitute some slippage after the dominance of the last several years? - What about the fact that KS is an obvious devotee of Billy's recruiting evals, to the point he continues to poach our roster/signees under suspicious circumstances, and just generally acting like an unscrupulous dooshnoozle. Is that getting ahead of ourselves too? Please pardon the challenging tone, no offense intended. I just can't resist the opportunity to dunk on Kirby, whenever one presents itself.
Lizardbreath... if you don't mind I'd like to add this to my repertoire? It has a nice ring to it. I'm sorry to hear that, Grant1, at this juncture, when I pray I ask the Lord to heal our brethren at Gator Country. The number of folks with cancer continues to grow, sadly. 50MPH winds continue to wreak havoc and fuel the fires out here. Apocalyptic landscape grows... Many prayers needed. Sorry, kind of got off topic. May the Good Lord heal us all. It's great to-be a Florida Gator, and when we beat Georgia this year it will be very healing too. Go Gators.
What period do you associate that with? His tenure only a couple of lulls after he rebuilt the program: in the late 1960's right before they installed the wishbone and again at the tail end of his career in the early 80's. Even with all the rumors of fixing games, running tryout camps, and dirty play on the field the NCAA never really touched him. Are you referring to the scholarship caps and other rules regarding the ability to park Football scholarships in other sports? I'm not sure of the timing of those, but is seemed like it happened close to when he decided to retire.
