Missouri, 13-3. Ranked #34 in NCAA Rating, #37 in Torvik, #41 in KenPom. Projected as an NCAAT team, definitely a Quad 1 game at this point. The SEC is just stacked this season.
Early season records usually filled with cupcakes. Schedules in basketball now designed to get lot of teams 20 wins. Look at Arkansas having lost all their SEC games. Can’t always tell good teams early in season by record. Injuries are a factor as well. Auburn could be without important player due to high ankle sprain or worse.
Many years ago I was playing basketball in Alligator Alley and fractured my ankle when I turned it. It's called pronation. Don't know how severe his is, but it took a long time for mine to be completely healed, and I wasn't having to play high level basketball on it.
Size wise it seems like a good matchup for us, 3 guards and 2 bigs. . They do have a 7 footer that starts Gray, but he only scores like 2 points a game. Hoping we see Clayton and Richard get on track again.
People always write off those Cal teams way too early. Arkansas looked like they have some really interesting pieces developing. If they can get Johnell Davis going, they will be a good team.
Just can’t have a let down. This conference is so good. If you want to be a top 3 team come SEC Tournament, you have to beat Mizzou at home
This starts the stretch of games against teams we are definitely better than but teams that if you bring your B game and they bring their A you’re gonna lose. Tricky, but a good test for them.
The Gators play at 9 pm but get ready. 7 pm is must see SEC basketball. Alabama, Auburn and Ole Miss are all playing and Miss State, Kentucky, and TA&M are in there as well.
2 issues I sure would like to see improved. Inbounding the basketball after an opponent basket. We look very clunky sometimes and it isn’t a smooth operation. No need for details, we’ve seen it several times. Picking the ball up in half court with no immediate help followed by forced, gambled passes. I have no doubt these things are being worked on. Just a passionate fan observation. GO GATORS!!!
Another Quad 1 matchup. Gotta bring it every night in the SEC, which is good because it keeps us sharp. Iron sharpens iron and all that.
Just a comment from this weekend games, South Carolina bringing up the bottom of the SEC teams, played Auburn, was very physical with two of their bigs. Very broad shoulder and thick with muscles. These two guys are very athletic also, they are going to beat on everybody, whether they get the win or not. Just ask Johnnie Broom. The SEC has the most athletic teams in the nation, every year. Hope we can get through the season without major injuries.
Not sure long ago this was scheduled, but Tuesday includes #14 v #2, #23 v #5, and #10 v #6. All SEC matchups, and all at 7pm.
Question: What if we beat Missouri for a Quad 1 win and then they tank the rest of the season. Is it still a Quad 1 win or are Quad wins variable?
No. A win is always in the quad currently dictated by the opponents NET rating. E.g., if Tennessee loses out, that will end up a quad 3 / quad 4 win.
Yeah I don't understand the pattern of picking up the dribble unnecessarily. Basketball fundamentals 101 to not do that!
Yep, three better SEC matchups were slotted for the prime slot. We are the fourth best game of the night.
