Let's see - COVID comes and there is a death count while Trump is in office for most major media broadcasts. Biden becomes POTUS and....sorry, don't remember seeing the death count. I could be wrong. So California wildfires: Democrat POTUS, Democrat Governor, Democrat Mayor, Democrat legislature. No death count. It's not only what and how MSM reports...it is also what they do not report. Notice how the reporting is "Trump points blame..." and "Misinformation on fires..." It's all tangential to the problem - not how this crisis was improperly managed prior. "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain" should be the media's tag line. Cue the "how heartless to discuss this NOW!!!" posts. Okay, please provide the appropriate day and time to discuss how the media reports on this tragedy....or don't and let the Democrats in charge slip, slide and go back to non-work as usual.

Literally, the top headline on CNN is "LA fires at Critical Stage as Winds will Return; Death Toll Rises to at least 24." You do have to read past the headline to the subheadline at NYT. As a reminder, current death tolls are 5 orders of magnitude lower than COVID. Looks like you will need to go elsewhere for your daily dose of resentment.

I agree that the death toll which be much higher although I am fairly certain that there is no attempt on the part of the authorities to cover up the actual number as you seem to be implying. The number 24 is almost certainly based on the number of confirmed fatalities. As the ruins of destroyed structures are searched and more human remains are discovered the number will go up.
Didn't see a running death count for other events either. That said, look up any news story from any source you pick and it will state the current number of deaths from the fires. It will likely go up as the rubble is searched. Have a nice day.
Apparently your selective recollection is different than my recollection. The media continued to publish the number of Covid deaths after Biden took office. In fact, I recall multiple articles from 2021 through 2023 pointing out the the mortality rate from Covid was significantly higher for unvaccinated individuals than those who took the vax. This graph was from early 2023.

News last night reported 24 confirmed dead from the LA fires, and about another 2 dozen missing. But until remains are found, they are going to hold out hope and not declare anyone else dead. What a silly thread.
