you’ve worked in finance for 30 years and learned nothing then apparently. The Fortune 500 in 1990 earned about 2 trillion in revenue. It didn't even exist until the 1950s. The free market has changed the world - as you should well know having worked in finance. But having worked in finance you probably don't know your history - and bottom line, oligarchy and democracy don't mix (going all the way back to Athens and Sparta) - if the US want's to maintain the world order that has seen huge growth across all sectors because of "free market capitalism", they must maintain a certain world order. And that world order can't include world wars, or big regional conflicts, or a giant oligarchy interrupting business. So yes, spending billions (a meager amount compared to the amounts at stake if Russian influence expands), is meaningless in the grand scheme of things. In other words, it is absolutely worth the investment, because not spending that money would have far greater costs down the road. Sorry you don't see it, but in my experience, finance bros don't have a lot of vision. Edit - And I want to add that even if the US wasn't spending that money in Ukraine Republicans would be bitching about spending it on poor people - so don't cry me any fake rivers about saving people from tent cities - that is not what republicans do.

Cool. It's not like Trump actually cares about America. He'll bash any and every person "target-worthy" in a legitimate crisis. He'll sell influence in his our government to any billionaire willing to donate, or any nation willing to contribute to him or meddle in the election. Trump is not working for America, and should be opposed.
We’ve teamed up with criminals and terrorists before, I doubt Zelenskyy is any worse than anyone else we’ve ever supported. Regarding big business, the U.S. “owes” them nothing. I’m still furious that the big banks tanked the economy and we had to bail them out for our own good back during the financial crisis. I hate how reliant we are on huge corporations. But we are reliant on them. Denying that is just magical thinking. And that system is highly reliant on a western world order. I don’t “like” it. But to turtle shell into our own borders would ultimately make our lives significantly harder. If you’re ok with that then sure - let’s turtle.
Wealth inequality is a communist tenet... Stop with that communist crap already. Hence, we should never worry about the jobs and the pay people freely choose by which to live. Sending out tax dollars to Ukraine is a European problem, let them pay for it. Not our obligation... not our war.
