Even owning the car that was involved and an employee driving doesn't seem to be an open and shut case, see UGA two years ago. I guess they might settle eventually with the victims out of court?

Employers don’t get sued for the actions of their employees unless they occurred within the scope of their employment. So liability of the university based on tragic occurrences like this are not an issue.

I won't even look at his high school recruiting profile. Let me guess. He is a run first athlete that the genius believes will be the next great dual threat qb.

    Close!

He's a running athlete that tries to pass the ball.

What's tiresome (extremely) is the bashing of DM. He had little to do with our death spiral. In fact his tenure (until he got fed up with the chitshow) was the lone bright spot the last 15 years. I'd give my left nut to see play like those 2018 thru 2020 teams (even the team that played the gumps in 2021). Sickening the way so many Gator fans constantly bash him. His coaching record is way better than Billy's and he had to coach against SEC comp for many of those years at MOO U, not at Louisiana against HS comp. SRS 9.7 in his coaching career vs Billy's 5.9. And a 7-3 bowl record to boot.

@crl I understand your point, but your punishment doesn't fit the crime. ;) You responded to a post just about dual-threat quarterbacks.

Our experience with Franks-over-Trask and Emory-AR is legit. I think I'd throw in Nick Fitzgerald as a borderline case too. (I actually wonder what Emory Jones would be like in Billy's offense.)

Mullen’s challenge was the Defense, not the O. If he had the resources Billy was given in terms of additional coaching staff salaries, additional Army of staff, and the football facility he may have done well. He had several teams that would have been in a 12 team college playoff while at UF. He had MSU ranked first in a poll during the season, which is a major feat. Both Billy and Dan are not a Spurrier or Urban type hire. Don’t think they are capable of winning national titles. Agree that Dan has a much better resume than Billy.

He would have just given Grantham more money if he had the same resources. Mullen may have been a good to great Offensive minded coach, but his inability to be a HEAD COACH is what he is being judged on which he failed at UF in regards player development, who played, recruiting, and inability to see that our D sucked and needed a change. So yes, he specifically contributed to our death spiral.

Head coach had nothing to do with refusing to address a declining defense? An offense hitched to Emory Jones? A wr and TE room that looked like this at the end of 2021? Ooookkkk....

Mowing suck and he wrecked the program. He may have not been getting the financial support that it takes to recruit, that is another topic and one that Mullen may not have been in control of. I know it was before Nil, but we know they were getting paid also

He's averaged about 30 points per game everywhere he's been. In that case, there are an awful lot of geniuses out there in college football. CBN has been averaging 29 without any defensive points to add to the totals. Too low but not making Mullen look like a genius.
