I’m sorry if facts hurt your feelings. The EC was partly justified by the fact that slave states had a far more limited number of white male property owners because of chattel slavery.

If the truth offends you, it’s you, my man.

Aren’t you a moderator? Isn’t “climate idiots” against recent requests to dial back personal insults?

If I say you’re suffering from Dunning-Kruger and have no idea what you’re talking about, will that hurt your feelings enough to edit another one of my posts?

Newsflash: even oil companies accept anthropogenic climate change. You don’t know more than climate scientists. You don’t know more than scientists working for even oil companies. Your posts are based in either malignant ignorance or petulant trolling. I’m not even sure.

Is this another opportunity to ask you how MAGA boots taste?

Anyone that isn't a conservative white male is considered a DEI hire these days

When I was recruiting for my prior employer, several members of my team would routinely mock anyone with clearly “black” names as being “affirmative action” people allowed to go to college. It was repulsive.

White men don’t seem to understand how easy we have it in the professional world from a privilege point of view. It’s especially lost on those who grew up in a world where anyone not white or male mostly inhabited lower level positions.

One of the biggest moments of schadenfreude I’ve ever had was watching one of those not-white, not-male people put into a leadership role over a guy who was on my hiring team. She earned it. She was a superstar.

    He raged.

Billy finds my posts funny. Billy doesn’t like responding with substance because Billy doesn’t have any.

It’s really sad how many adults in this country have become incapable of understand that there are things that others, better experienced and educated, know better than themselves.

If the false idol says it’s true, it must be true. It’s the same fawning and worship you see in North Korea.

Stop politicizing disasters. I remember people smacking Bush for Katrina when he didn’t deserve it. It only caused additional problems as desperate people angrily turned down critical help.

This is not responsive. You won’t find trees like this in the parks on the hillsides around Pacific Palasades. They’re dominated by scrub brush on steep hillsides.

Scrub brush.....if I have time later I will search my videos and see if I can find a picture of that area before they cleared it....it was so thick you would have needed a machete to pass through it.

Ok, the video you showed was of a flat area in a forest where you can run a brush hog. You’re not doing that on the hillsides by Pacific Palisades for at least three reasons: 1) it’s not physically possible due to the grade, 2) they need the vegetation’s roots to support the hillsides to prevent slides, and 3) it’s the only vegetation which supports the ecosystem/wildlife.

Sure, just light a match in a dessert climate with dense dry brush everywhere. What could go wrong? (Just like lighting a controlled fire in the swamps of FL, right?)

Well I am at least as much a California expert as Joe Biden. I know that fire hydrants don't run on electricity, even in Cal.

This is a good article with several experts agreeing, no municipal water system in the world would've made any difference. You just can't fight a wildfire with ground water only, no air support, and hurricane level winds.

What might have helped? Better land management, which spans decades of neglect and issues. Updating buildings to modern codes, which the Palisades neighborhood just received grants to do, but sadly not in time. But even with updates, it may not have made a major difference.

I spoke with my s-i-l earlier this evening and she mentioned this man, Rick Caruso. She knows him. He's a billionaire real estate mogul / developer and a former Republican who switched affiliation and became a Democrat before he ran against, and lost the race for Los Angeles mayor to Karen Bass. He is incensed and according to my s-i-l he is planning a class action suit against the city of Los Angeles. No details as of yet. He almost lost his shopping center, his daughter lost her home, and his son's home is likely going to burn. Caruso is planning to run for governor.

My s-i-ln N is resigned that she will likely lose her home of 40 years. It's a beautiful place, full of irreplaceable antiques and art. The painting hanging over a buffet in her dining room is N's mother, painted when she was 5 years old by a student of Mary Cassat. It hung in the Louvre for 30 years before N's family managed to reclaim it. A miniature landscape hanging in her bedroom was painted by King Charles II when he was the Prince of Wales before he married Diana.

When N left her house on late afternoon / evening on Tuesday she never thought the situation would deteriorate as it has and took only a couple of changes of clothing to meet her daughter at the hotel where they are staying. She was confident the fire fighters would stop it before it came close to her home, but the mercurial winds of flame changed her fate. She is sad but resigned she will most likely lose her home, possibly all of its irreplaceable contents, almost every stitch of clothing she owns, and her jewelry. There is no water in Brentwood to continue what appears to be pointless attempts to stop the unstoppable, and authorities are not allowing residents to return to collect personal items at this time.

The fire fighters are consolidated at the 405 that runs north / south between Brentwood and Beverly Hills to prevent it from jumping east over the freeway. N supports this decision and my heart hurts for her. She's not well and she lost her husband, my husband's brother, to cancer 4 months ago.

Oh yeah, Pacific Palisades is 80% destroyed.

DeSantis was/is on Trump's l8st because he agreed to be Trump's VP and he promised Trump he would not run against him. Then never-Tr7mper Rupert Murdoch offered DeSantis $10M to run for president (by buying DeSantis book). IMO it was a deal Ron$s very ambitious wife could not refuse.

Above facts provided by Trump insider Robert Barnes. Barnes says that once you lie to Trump's face that's it as far as Trump is concerned. We'll see.

I know of a really good artist. Her favorite artist years ago was Mary Cassat. She can take a photo of "N's mother" and turn it into a work of art that will look like it was done by Cassat. Pastel chalk. Artist is @SueThompson on X (Twitter).l. She would take a slide made from a photo and project it on a canvas. A couple of hours or so the project would be done. Sue has been written up in the Orlando Sentinel. She had a one woman art show at UCF. Probably in her 70's now. Probably still alive. She's a cancer survivor.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it would never be the same. A portrait painted from a photo would never be the same as a painting of a living five year old child sitting for the artist. And it would never hang in the Louvre. Some things are irreplaceable.
