I think people are forgetting (and if I remember correctly) that OSU helped us win the 1996 NC, by OSU beating Arizona State, which put us into the NC game. (We beat the team we played there 52-20.) So depending on who they're playing, there will always be a little place in my heart for OSU. And beat the hell out of Texas!

I watched the game. PSU completed zero passes? I should have noticed that but didn't. Not a single pass?

 

Not exactly what it says. No Penn State wide receivers caught any passes. Nothing about tight ends or running backs.

 

I disagree a bit. No question that the PS QB screwed the pooch. But, ND made adjustments in the second half and Penn State kept trying to do what worked in the 1st half. Dude was outcoached.

Bear in mind, to root against ND anywhere is to root against Touchdown Jesus, even if he's stuck back in South Bend.

 

Texas had as much to do with us winning the championship as OSU did by knocking off Nebraska before the SEC Champ. And maybe Memphis State by knocking off Tenn a couple weeks earlier.

 

Well, OSU added the finishing touch, as it was either us or ASU in the NC game. OSU took care of ASU.

Sorry, I just can’t bring myself to hate ND. This team seems to have the will to win and Marcus Freeman is impressive as a coach and a person.

 

I will always be a John Mackovik (sp?) fan because of this. he called an absolutely giant balls play "Steeler roll left!" instead of punting to help ice that win. of course maybe I should be mad at him because the subsequent celebration on Bourbon Street definitely took a couple of years off my life

 

Yes, for several years they couldn't beat us, we couldn't beat Michigan and Michigan couldn't beat them. It was the damnedest thing you'll ever see.

 

It was Ricky Williams and Texas who defeated Nebraska in the Big 12 title game that got us in. Had that not happened NU wins four straight titles.
