I fully expect Haugh to play the 3 next year if he works on his three points shot. That's his NBA future for sure

I think Condon is a year away from NBA-ready. Chinny too.
I envision Condo and Chinny starting in the frontcourt. If Haugh continues his arc, he might get the start at small forward. Handlogten will get 20 minutes subbing for both Condo and Chinny, and Alexis will get his 10 to 15 minutes. Rioux will get 5 to 10.
Backcourt will an interesting challenge, and Aberdeen and Klavzar will have first crack at starting jobs, subbed by Brown. I'd like to see Todd bring in a top-drawer transfer, but I think we have a couple of good freshmen arriving, so maybe we're good.

I don't think the jury is out at all. He's shown he can compete in high D-1 levels. Maybe won't ever be a star or even a starter, but as a solid player. He plays hard and physical, defends well, and is active on the boards. Needs to work on his shooting.

I'd be shocked if we didn't bring in a transfer guard to at least provide good depth

I was a bit worried that Condo would blow up this year and head to the league. I would have been fine with it, btw.

But I think his trajectory is great for us and him. His game is continuing to improve and he isn't at his ceiling. His stroke and athleticism makes me think he can get his 3pt% north of 38. That and an improved handle and a little more mass and he has a chance of making a roster.

I see Haugh being effective as a three next season. He can shoot from outside, handle the ball and cut to the rim. We won't have three guards that have to start because they are so good like this year and we should have plenty of talent at the 4 and 5 positions.

No chance we overlook the portal. Golden doesn’t want to depend on it, but if you can get a Clayton-Martin type guy again, it will be less pressure on the freshman. If we can get to the point where are bringing in 1-2 solid transfers a year, but mostly building around returnees and incoming freshmen, that would be perfect

I could see him playing some three, but not going there full time. His real strength has been how active he is against slower bigs (cutting, driving, running the floor), but that advantage would be negated. We saw against UNC how much he struggled on switches against smaller players. I fear he would be more of a stationary shooting three, sort of what Richard was his first two years, but not sure that’s what Golden wants going forward. Of course, he could always change his game the way Richard has. But his lack of experience out there and the fact that his success shooting the ball from the arc mostly against air because he is getting lost in switches makes me skeptical. He just hasn’t had to run off screens or catch and shoot while trailing the break or to handle in ball screens or to break down a wing off the dribble. Would be an entirely different world for him.

He's having fun... in a situation that would normally have players sad and upset. I like his demeanor. Team player.

Haugh and Condon both are interesting players. Like you said, Haugh has too good a motor for most bigs, he has a good handle, a good looking outside shot and blocks out great. But can he be effective at 3? Maybe he’s just a baller and needs to be on the court.

Condon doesn’t look like a NBA 5 or a 4. He’s kind of a hybrid. He can handle the ball and shoot the three.

I think we’ll be ok with Condon, Haugh and Chinyelu on the court at the same time. Or with Handlogten instead of Chinyelu. Rebounding would be phenomenal. There would always be a mismatch because Condon and Haugh have nice outside shots. They might struggle on defense against smaller, quicker front courts but I think Haugh is a pretty good defender. And if Haugh is guarding a quicker guy who gets by him, we have 3 great shot blockers in Condon, Chinyelu and Handlogten.

    It’s gonna be fun!

I was thinking the same. Don't know who replaces Richard if not him. Brown? Portal player? I think Brown is a two.

Brown is basically the same size as Richard, but probably a little more athletic. Ingram might be able to contribute a little there, too, though his offensive game is raw. Would not be surprised if we look to the portal at the one and the three.

Lots of possibilities for next year is a good thing. I spoke about Haugh playing the 3 last year and think he would increase our advantages on the glass. One name we haven't included here is C J Ingram. If he does end up coming here, he might end up in the 3 spot. I have yet to see him play but if he is good enough Haugh would stay at the 4.

I also thought he might be gone after this season but at the midpoint, he's not there yet. What I'd like to see now is a higher conversion rate on his scoring attempts at the rim. But he's definitely a key part of our success to date.

Yep. 4 out of 5 doctors agree that 4 out of 5 of our starters this year are transfers. We'll continue to raid the portal.

Brown at this moment is most definitely a two. But Richard was also a two when he arrived. He's improved his slashing and toughness to the point to become quite good as a three.

I'm not sure he has a "natural" spot but I have to imagine if he's going to play in the NBA it'll be at the four
