With all due respect to ACF, who was solid for us, Flor is an upgrade in that she's much more of a terminal hitter. Balls get put away. Great addition.

    Absolutely.
Loved AC. She gave it her all even when hurt and she was the consummate teammate.
But Flor has the ability to elevate this team to a different level.
I would hate to defend against a KMart/Flor kill machine fed by Stucky/Parks.

Only saw 2 or 3 Miami matches this year but don't really remember much about her. Story says she hit over .300 five times and .400 twice. While she did lead her team in scoring i would not classify her as terminal. AC hit over .300 five times and .400 four times. AC had lots of sub zero percentage games which were killers but Flormarie had 9 matches below .100 and another 5 below .200. The efficiency didn't appear until the end of season in which the last 8 games were all over .300 with not a single match before that breaking .300. I don't know what clicked or what other issues there were until those last 8 matches but take out that small sample at the end of the season and there isn't much daylight between her and AC other than she played backcourt more and had a more consistent serve.( which I agree would be upgrades in those areas, just not from an attacking standpoint).I do not expect her to give us what Izzy did but she definitely gives us some insurance and depth if others aren't healthy next year or just struggling from match to match....could be wrong but the numbers don't make me say wow. I'm more looking forward to Byrd, who has no such record to look at and hasn't been given any chances to prove herself. Glad we have some added depth at that spot and looks like atleast 2 of the transfers should be able to pass when needed, which is something we could not rely on alot of times. She also appears to only have 1 year of eligibility which sucks if she turns out to be as key as Izzy was.

You really should have stopped at your first sentence:

    ----------------PTS----Kills--Errors--Hit%--BLKS
    AC Fitzpatrick 255.5--220--105-----.185--45
    Isabel Martin-367.0--315---125-----.233-42
    FH Colon------599.5--525--230-----.244--63

It's not even close. Colon was not only the best player on Miami's team, but she would also have been the best OH on UF's 2024 team.

I am usually hesitant to post about the inner workings of the team but will do so here. Mary worked her tail off to get Flor. It took weeks. Flor had her choice of any school. Mary and Dave value all their athletes but once Flor became available in the portal she was job number 1.
I give credit to this great university and especially to Mary for signing her. One huge factor IMO is that Flor wants to win. Hence, she wanted to be a Gator.
This team now has a legitimate shot at getting the National Championship. Go Gators.

Moving forward in today’s game, most coaches will have to work their tails off building and sustaining their rosters.

Can't believe I wasted 30 minutes of life to gather this but some people seem to live to put other people down and can't accept a difference in opinion without being obnoxious.....my main point was that there is not a lot of difference between Flo and Izzy/AC in terms of hitting. When you call someone "terminal" I expect to see staggering numbers, like above 300 average with several games close to 400 or better. Flo literally had almost 600 more swings than AC and around 400 more than Izzy so of course she will have more "scoring". The hitting percentage is better than our OH's however the schedule also contributes to that as other factors. We actually had 9 common opponents that I could find:
    OH St--Flo .091%/12K Izzy .075%/14K AC .318%/8K
    GT-- Flo .288%/29K Izzy .152%/10K AC .280%/12K
    FSU-- Flo .210%/19K and .343%/16K Izzy .367%/15K AC .107%/8K
    N Tex- -Flo .414%/15K Izzy .357%/8K AC .211%/7K
    Buf-- Flo .296%/13K Izzy .278%/7K AC .438%/8K
    Tex-- Flo .136%/16K Izzy .235%/8K AC .000%/5K
    Ark-- Flo -.125%/2K Izzy .074%/8K AC .087%/7K
    NCST-- Flo .289%/20K Izzy .368%/7K AC .176%/6K
    Stan-- Flo .205%/17K Izzy .222%/8K AC .080%/6K
    AVG--Flo .215%/16K Izzy .234%/9K AC .189/7K
Using total kills is not really a fair assessment because of the huge discrepancy in TA. FLO TA 381/38.1AVG-match Izzy 22TA/25AVG-match AC 202TA/22.4AVG-match

If Izzy were to have the same # of TA then you could assume her kills would be very similar to Flo and Izzy's actual hitting % was better vs common opponents BUT I would not consider Izzy to be "terminal". Flo appears to be a great addition however I think the increase in production "may" be more in the areas of defense (IF we allow a 6 rotation OH) serving, blocking and perhaps more backcourt attacks (IF we allow a 6 rotation OH). I agree she appears to be a more well rounded player, which is what we needed. Just from an attack standpoint however the raw numbers don't show a lot of daylight between her and Izzy therefore I disagreed with describing her as "terminal"....good player at a position of great need but just wasn't putting her in a category like Kennedy or Auguste in terms of attacks.

From top to bottom, the ACC was the toughest conference last year. For Colon to have such great stats against caliber teams like Pitt, Louisville, Stanford, North Carolina, fswho?, SMU...That's impressive! She's just what we need! There's been a lot of movement with some of the top programs-Wisconsin, Nebraska, Pitt...I haven't heard much from Penn St. Can you comment on this? Is there more info you can add to enlighten us with? It would be much appreciated.

Florida is blessed. Cannot speak to Penn State.

Florida Victorious administers NIL for the us. They have a monthly publication showing what athletes are doing charity work in Gainesville. There are always pictures of members of the volleyball team.

    And, @ETGator1
Why don't you two take this idiocy to another place?
PM each other and spare the rest of us from this childish babble.
It is unbecoming to you both.
As far as I am concerned, you have lost a lot of credibility with this sophomoric display.

Again, I’ve loved GatorCountry Forums more than forums on other sites because they are generally positive, informative, and respectful. It’s important to remember that athletes and parents may be reading them too.
